That would be so fun to load up your mech with a elemental consumables.. They jump off your mech and fire their missiles at the target where you aim, then dance around a bit firing a small laser at them. (doing zero damage though but would at least keep LOS)

Think of it as a short ranged UAV that does a little damage when you activate it. :)

PS clanners only!

Most likely would never happen but boy would it be a fun tool. I could see a light running through a line and dropping the little guy as he ditches.. It makes me laugh just thinking about it.

I hate the consumable system in MWO. I hate it. It's terrible and it should feel bad, and frankly it'd take almost nothing to make it a vastly more fun, fair, and engaging tool. Sadly, "almost nothing" is what Piranha thinks of us and this game, so we're stuck with these absolutely god-awful things.

...I still would not be averse to the idea of a 'SIC 'EM, KUJO' button to cover an enemy in bees angry Elementals for X period of time.

I hate consumables myself but i'd still be ok with the elemental ones heh.. That said i really do find consumables to be a cheap tactic..

Mostly because i cannot ever see consumables going away.. IS could have Battle Armor.

The Battleamors in MWO very dwarfed ...thats 3m tall Armors ,and going a Mech up to the Knees , not little flys in the Neck

IS does have battle armor. By the 3060’s most houses were fielding it, plus the Grey Death Legion. So PGI could squeeze it in if they so chose.

that said, I don’t want to see it done as a consumable. We already pressure light and medium mechs to ALWAYS take arty strikes in order to have competitive match score.

It appears this way more because of how insanely big Heavies and Assaults are in MWO, not so much because the Elementals are that much undersized.

Spoiler

They look substantially better on the Mist Lynx, which as a 25 ton mech is one of the few mechs in MWO that's actually reasonably scaled.

I had a similar idea years ago; typed up a whole "proposal" around it too. Basically the same as you said but the Elementals would act as placable turrets. You would drop them somewhere and they would fire two salvos of SRMs then shoot any enemy in sight with IS power level Small Lasers/Flamers/Machine Guns. Each Elemental would have to be destroyed individually but as you destroyed them their firepower would be reduced. Also their short range would make them easy to take out if you knew what you are doing or were not caught by surprise.

Initially I thought OmniMechs only but PGI could release it with the introduction of IS OmniMechs. Also, only 1 Elemental-consumable per 'Mech and until you dropped them off you could not fire torso mounted weapons. I figured these last options would balance the extra fire power the Elementals gave the player.

Honestly after thinking about it more, i kinda think of it as the Clan version of a rocket launcher.
You could drop an Elemental. (take 1 ton and hard point, missile/energy.)

Then you use the elemental, it has an SRM2 with 4 sounds, aka 8 total missiles and an ERSL, then it fights till it dies or does 30 damage.

It would be a really fun thing ro heavier mechs to drop when a light tries to come and play backstab for example, Drop the elemental and let him do a little damage as you evade.

The other concept i had for them was it it has a single Narc, then the ERSL. A one time auto hit narc from say under 200m could also be interesting.

I'll be serious and say it's probably something more for Mech 5, but after seeing them in the new pack it really makes me want one lol.

This hurts my head. Serious. Consumables are a blight in the first place.
