just curious as to what non meta builds people are using or planning to use on their Free Atlas.

the one i have right now is as follows.

AS7-D (2 LBX-5 (3 1/2t ammo), 1 MRM-40 (3t amm), 4 MLs, 1 LAMS, running an LE-360, 4 DHS (in engine), and Endo (nearly full armor of course -3pts in each leg))

i have only run a couple matches in it so far but seems to be working well

anyone else using/ planning to use an unusual build on the mech?

AC 20, MRM 40 and 30. Works great with the AC20 and missle cooldown quirks.

That one is already out there as one of three Brawl builds so kinda counts as Meta.

Atlas feels limited both because of the "new" weapons and the way the game plays now.
MRM is the new SRM for Atlas
Lots of people run an LBX to go with the TRUE SANDPAPER alpha loadouts.

So if you want something off base, you need to do something weird like put snubs in the arms to pair with the AC20 instead of the traditional missiles. Maybe there would be room for lurms then or something.

Beats me, current game state IMO has Fatlas backed into a corner as far as loadouts unless you want to ignore effectiveness for fun, which is always valid.

You're going to be hardpressed to find anyone not using big ballistic especially when twice LBX5 is flatly inferior.

On the theme of odd ball builds, you could do something with large lasers, or large pulse lasers. Try this AS7-D

AC20 + 4t ammo , LPL (CT), 2 x ERPPC, AMS + 1t ammo, 5 DHS, Std 325, full armour (shaved 3 pts each leg)

Not exactly high firepower @ 51, but oddly satisfying and robust

some of these are interesting and i think i might try something with triple LLs next.

i do appreciate all the out of the box ideas. i am someone who encourages fun over meta. isn't that the core of why we play this game.

(i was thinking of trying 3 LLs and a standard Gauss with some kind of missile to take up the extra tonnage. (likely an MRM or something. i like the idea of single LRM 10 or 15 but with even a single corsair on the other team it would be near useless).

i honestly think there would be fewer stomps and more closer matches if more folks just used fun builds.

Trouble is that the Atlas really does so well with the basic big gun+loadsa missiles+a bit of pewpew that almost anything else isn't worth it. The only variation is how much of each you take
