Moving up in tier level isn't going to make the gameplay experience more pleasant. More likely, the opposite. It's not like you gain any kind of special rewards for advancing. Enjoy it while it lasts.

As others mentioned it's not the kills its the damage. that maters most.
300-400 damage is what's going to get you up
2 kills and 150-300 isn't.
Reason it's this way is because PGI alteed it to try cut out kill stealing either late in beta or early after launch.
It's also why there is the Kill most damage reward, and solo kill reward.
300-400 damage is attainable in a 4G

I am glad, when I do more then 700 damage.
When I am stealing kills from other guys, I am not glad. Its a "sorry".

Belive me. Its more fun at tier 5 anyway. You can play more varied builds and the fights are more fun. As you advance tiers expect to end up being forced to Nascar every match.

Hello! That is all right.

I dont mind that I did so little damage but really what can you expect form a med mech ?
You can do more, even in a medium 'Mech - that is, if you would like to climb up a Tier or two ...
This morning I had read you post, so I took my Hunchback for a ride.
14. I armed it per your description with AC-20 and Medium Lasers (see the fifth image).
As you can see, it is the Hunchback Hero "Grid Iron". It is very similar to your HBK-4G. Actually, your HBK-4G is even better quirked for AC-20 than my "Grid Iron".
We dropped on Rubellite Oasis.

1. In your games you should aim to get one or two kills and dish out some 400-500 damage.

2. One of your kills should be "yours", if possible, i.e. kill that shows your personal contribution.
You can not really expect to move to Tier 1, if you think that you can just farm kills where 99% of the work was done by somebody else.
3. Of course, you can add additional kills, if the opportunity presents itself. After all, dead enemy is the best enemy.
4. Damage itself is one half of your Match Score. Thus, 512 damage means at least 250 points toward the Match Score.
5. Avoid the damage to friendly 'Mechs. Every point of friendly damage reduces your Match Score. Of course, a few points of friendly damage do not mean much, but you should avoid excessive friendly damage, if possible.
6. Even if you can not kill enemy 'Mech outright, hit him! If your team mate kills him later in the game, you get Kill assistance that counts towards your Match Score too.

7. Destroy enemy components - they count towards your Match Score too.
Some weapons (missiles, LBX Autocannons) are better for this task than others, but you can do it in your Hunchback too. Just try to hit damaged enemy sections, especially those red ones. Naturally, if you kill enemy 'Mech by punching through his Centre torso with your mighty AC-20, you get rewards for those enemy components placed there.
8. Help your friends! You get Savior kills, when you help your friends who are in danger of being crippled or killed by enemy 'Mech.
9. Use UAV, if the situation demands it. Well-placed UAV can detect enemy Mechs and show them to you and to your team. But do not waste them, usually you have one, sometimes two.
10. Look for unnoticed enemy 'Mechs and lock them, so the rest of your team knows about them too.
11. Find some spare time for fun secondary activities.

12. Stay with your bigger friends. Support them and you will be rewarded.
All these activities (and many other) improve your Match Score.

15. The point is to find the right balance between the neccessary aggressivity that leads you close enough to the enemy, so you can best utilize your short ranged weapons, and the caution that lets you survive long enough (ideally to the victorious end of the game) to give you the time and opportunities to commit all those-Match Score-rising actions.

16. Being on the winning side gives you a small PSR bonus to your PSR change. It is not a big bonus, but it helps.
17. Laugh all the way to the bank.

I want to get to higher levels as they tend to play the game more, otherwise its a 'farm' creds system.
As I mentioned above, you should aim to get Match Score 250 consistently, with one or two kills, if possible.

I just want to play the game as expected ... tactical like, but the system is more selfish imo.
Believe me, many Tier 1 games are all about tactics and coordination.

I have definitely noticed some inconsistencies as of late. I have been getting games with 2 kills, 400+ damage, and 300+ match score, only to lose rating. I just had one with 3 KMDD and 500 damage, only to lose rating because some idiot light ran right in front of my UAC20 combined with a loss.
I don't care too much because I am T3 and thus get to play with virtually everyone but I find it demoralizing that I can never seem to break out of it.

The next time post screenshots of both the Mission Summary Team Table and the Mission Summary Player Table, please.
Without the Mission Summary Team table, it is impossible to judge your performance relative to the other players.
Posting only your personal stats is pointless.
