Anyone Else Jonesing For That 'quirk Preview' Daeron Mentioned On Sean's Show?

Anyone else really keen to see what constitutes "major quirk rework" and see if it's just more in the infinite dance of random number shuffling, or if we're getting some cool new stuff, qualitatively different from "make [X] weapon 5% better" or "live through [Y] more points of damage because bad geo"? Daeron said he'd be getting something up the day after the Hunter pack drop. It's now two days and a weekend. Where our sneaky-peeky @?

But the previews are not so much there anyway, more on popular streamer's discords, which are also open to everyone.

let me know if the changes have any effect on your Mech stats
so I am just ignoring the changes this time
HPG changes should be interesting

I've noticed a huge change in certain chassis. Firestarters catapulted from bad to legitimately powerful (also helped by buffs to red lasers and LPPCs), Atlases can tank damage like they used to, the Timber Wolf is exceptional again. The JJ buff is slightly less obviously noticeable but you can definitely find your way into all kinds of new places with it.

Not trying to be rude, but I can't imagine what you must be doing to have not noticed a huge impact.

I agree, funny how we are in the same tier yet those disagreeing are not. I personally have not noticed any changes in JJ since before.

I’m kind of on the same page. If they do a quirk pass and give under performers things like 5% here, 10% there; a bit of structure here, a bit of armor there, then I just don’t see it being much of a game changer. If the quirks provided to under performing mechs that really suffer from being oversized or having bad hit boxes, and the quirks are provided iteratively with an eye toward a rescale that may never come, then those mechs are going to not only still be underperforming, but distinctly so. Some are going to need giga quirks to justify playing them, and I get the feeling that such giga quirks will not be provided.
At best, I expect that we will get some meme worthy giga quirks to return some of the 2017 era offensive novelty to specific variants (e.g. the LPL Locust), but overall I expect most of the crappier variants to remain crappy. At the same time I expect the quirk pass will further the emphasis on mid to long range trading that has become the norm (in my games) while doing very little to helping short range or brawler builds (i.e. I expect the quirks will be much more offensively oriented rather than defensive). Guess we will see…at some point.

The fact that barndoor IS mechs like the zeus dont have big armor quirks is a sad joke.

Why are they there instead of mwocomp.com/patches ? They have a place where they stated that their patch previews would go and they are elsewhere for some reason?

There have been a few individual mechs highlighted on discords but my understanding is that the full preview list will come out when it's confirmed by PGI so as to not mislead folks if there are any big changes

I'm honestly not sure how you're not seeing them. Assaults and heavies can easily reach areas they couldn't before, lights who invest in JJs are practically shooting to the moon. Like have you not seen one single Spider-5V since the patch?

They could always just post clearly that it is a work in progress and may change. That isn't really any different if it is on the Cauldron's patch page or on someone's discord. Posting it to someone's discord doesn't somehow make it any more or less likely to mislead people.

Some chassis didn't change by much or at all in the mobility patch, so he could just be playing a handful of mechs that happened to either not change or not noticeably change. No idea how he couldn't see the JJ changes though. Mediums are the only weight class that weren't really affected, so most people should have noticed the difference.

As for jump jets? Yeah...I don't know what to tell someone who doesn't see the improvement. It's night and day for a lot of 'Mechs. Some maps are whole new ball games for a lot of 'Mechs. Mining Collective is a big one for NuJetz - my Warden Charlie Whale can get to places on Mining Collective now that nobody would've ever imagined seeing a Whale before, and it's been super nice. Solaris is another one, jets can significantly shorten your travel times in the outer suburbs(?) where the roofs are a lot lower and you can hop over them instead of having to swing wide. The Night Gyr's forced/integrated jump jets are quite useful now too, though I'll admit I have skills invested in the Jumps tree on both 'Mechs. I don't tend to pilot a huge number of heavy and assault machines so I don't have a lot else to go on, but yeah. The jets update was a big deal.

Same here exactly what we need.

I've played Assaults heavies and mediums and they all still feel like lead weights holding them down.. Maybe i missed the few that got cherry picked. Mostly IS mechs didn't seem to change imo.

Can you list some of these night and day mechs? specifically IS side that now feel lighter when we jump jet? Do you need like 5 or 6 JJ to feel these changes?

I want them to be listed separate or in blue or something
not mixed up with the listing of the skills
as it is now the easiest way to see what Quirks my mechs have is to check them out in the store

The Wolverine is better, but I have not played many games recently in 'Mechs other than the Spider 5V, and that has so many jets adding even more lift would go un-noticed. My understanding is you will get different results on different 'Mechs, depending on how screwed they used to be with respect to their weight versus jump jet class.
