Hey all,

Thought i'd post up this Timber Wolf I managed to get made up after a lot of printing issues.

It needs cleaning up, priming, painting, ect, but so far it looks good.

What do you all think? Any suggestions for paint or anything else?

That turned out to be a really nice model, ApheX, congrats !
This Timby might look really sexy with a neat woodland camo, at least in my opinion .

Thank you B0on!

I might go for that with one of them. Yep, I technically have two of them. The first one was made out of a material that didn't like being snapped together. I just finished gluing it up. It isn't articulated, however I'm going to gift one to a friend of mine. He'd love a camo look.

I think for my Timber Wolf I'd like to go with a Davion Black Ops vibe. Black base with a silver highlights, green cockpit with the federated commonwealth logo in shades of white and grey. Say the look of a black ops mech in the operation bulldog situation.

Like this but with a green glass windows.

The diorama I have planed for this is a mechbay with led lights within a display box powered via usb. I'd like to use the Mechcommander mechbay setup but more open on the sides.

you know with advances in radio controlled robotics, i think it might be possible to create a working model. if only i had the budget.

I'm sure it's probably possible with what's availble now, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Love the idea though :)

i know it would definitely need to have working lasers and rockets.

Lasers? Yes, that I could do. Rockets on the other hand........

I've been looking into those small remote battle robots one can purchase and (if the mech model was printed bigger) could use most of the parts for articulation, however I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have smooth movements. Still, I'm very keen to make an attempt.

id just use bottle rockets with model rocket igniters (low ohm resistors can be used in a pinch), each wired to a source pin on a power mosfet array. probibly not legal in some states. you could probibly use a .22 as an autocannon if you wanted to go through the trouble of registering it with the fbi, atf, and any other watchdog agencies out there. would be interesting to write "timber wolf" on a brady form. maybe just stick to a pneumatic bb gun.

maybe make a sport of it, like radio controlled dogfighting.

high powered lasers would probibly be hard to do as anything big enough to melt pla is probibly also powerful enough to blind the operators and any spectators. best way i think would be to simulate lasers with low power diodes and photosensors in the armor. not quite as fun as melting things. i suppose you could detonate a pyrotechnic charge for effect when a photodiode is tripped. otherwise i did always want an autocannon meta.

Hey all!

So I finally managed to paint one of the mechs. It's my first time working on something like this so I hope it doesn't look awful.

I had to learn how to weather with dark washes ad silver and I still need to add a clear coat to the thing, along with gloss to the windows.

Let me know how i did Posted Image

Well, it's all finished up and mounted on a display.

Final pictures. Stay tuned for a new post of the second Mech.

Hello again!

I've started working on my second Timber Wolf/Mad Cat which will be for myself. It's all been primed and will start the main paint job between Christmas and New Years.

In the mean time I have two Battletech boardgame sized versions which I've used to get an Idea on what paint job I'd like to use on the main one. I've never painted smaller mechs, so I hope these don't look too bad.

I really want to keep with my original idea of this being a stealth design, but now i'm more confident with painting after the first few, I'm going to have a very dark, slight metallic feel with sliver edging on every panel I can access. The windows will be a dark green with highlights and there will be some panels with a dark metal feel.

Here are some more pictures.

Have a great Chrismas Mechwarriors!

Hello,

The final mech is all painted. That's it, nothing more to show. It's been really fun working on these models. I hope you've all enjoyed them too.

Final pictures.
