maybe folks don't twist as much as they like to believe

Maybe folks get hit before their ping allows them to twist.. Must be great to enjoy sub 50 ping times..

Servers, their locations and pings are mostly PGI's responsibility. Of course, local internet providers and players' PCs play their role too.

If you run out of ammo in one game of twenty that's okay.

Just carry enough ammo so that running out means you get to kick back and be like "alright, I did 1000 damage, I carried, we're gonna win" -- it feels great.

You gotta move pro-actively. Whenever you expose yourself to engage, except for those brief moments when you're shooting, just assume someone's trying to line you up and shift left/right and jitter your throttle randomly.

Same way that Boxers will defend themselves against jabs most of the time. They don't rely on reaction time. Instead they're moving pro-actively to make themselves harder to hit.

That's what I had in mind. Posted Image

Usually a player knows from his experience, how much ammo he is going to need.

If you notice that you often run out of ammo, while the game is not over yet and your 'Mech is still combat-worthy, perhaps it would be a good idea to remove a heat sink and add more ammo.

And on the other hand, if you are ending your games with lots of unused ammo, then perhaps removing a ton of ammo and adding a heat sink would be in order, so you can better utilize your weapons.

Meh, it's not like I gave him advice that would require thousands of hours of practice or incredible reflexes or hand-eye coordination, or something ridiculous like "LOL just headshot the enemy, what's so hard".

I could understand if advice is dependent on high mechanical skill, which isn't attainable by everybody (or at least most people aren't willing to put in that kind of effort into what's essentially a hobby), that kind of advice might not be generally useful to most people. But stuff that anyone can do? If someone can play MWO, that means they can turn left/right, and know how to use the throttle, which if they can do that they should easily be able to at least try my advice.

I'm not gonna pretend I manage to follow my own advice 100% of the time, and I have the dumbs now and then, but at least I own up to my moments of stupidity instead of making excuses.
