I built my first mech with MASC, and can see it being a handy thing.

However somehow in the panic of battle I am bringing up a "recording" menu that takes over the left half of the screen and I have no idea how to get rid of it......and the MASC just stays activated till I blow my legs off.

What is the key stroke that brings up the recording menu. I like having MASC on the ALT key, but will change it if I can't figure this out.

Thanks.

The standalone MechWarrior Online has no "recording function" and no keyboard shortcut to bring up such "recording menu" during the game.

That "recording function" must be some other program installed on your PC.

Probably. PCs with nVidia video cards often come with pre-installed "nVidia Experience" or "ShadowPlay" or how it is called ...

I guess it will be something like that.

Alt+x are standard nvidia experience hotkeys. Cha ge or deactivate there.

I'm a n00b and ran into something similar, but it's a MWO thing. For some reason, when I hit Shift for the first time, MWO thinks I hit Shift+Tab and brings up the chat/friends menu. It happens in the pre-drop screen SOMETIMES (when I hit Shift to do an upper-case in chat), and it happens in-game the first time I hit Shift to unlock arms. It only happens once per drop-screen or per-round. I think I got it to happen a second time during a round by alt-tabbing to the desktop and then switching back to the game, the screen popped up the next time I hit Shift. It's annoying.....I just have to remember to hit Shift once at the start of the round so I don't end up with the friends screen in my face during the heat of battle.

Have you checked your keyboard shortcuts in the "Settings"?

Are you sure you're not talking about the Steam Overlay? That can be disabled in Steam's launch options for the game.

It's likely the AMD or Nvidia Overlay. I remember AMD having Alt+R as a default shortcut, which I hit often while MASCing back when I used AMD.

I had been having problems with both the nvidia overlay and steam overlay popping up too. Didn't even hit tab. It's just like he says every time the first time you load into the mech bay and you press shift. The steam overlay pops up. Doesn't matter if your in a mission deactivating armlock or if you're in the mech bay.

Nvidia didn't open a whole window blocking half of the screen though. it was 1/6 in the upper right. It was a label with performance values: fps; cpu; gpu... the key to get this menu was alt+R so whenever you lock on while using mask.

I ended up rebinding the steam button and deactivated the nvidia overlay altogether.

I think it was some kind of recording software.
