When i bothered to teach newbies, back in the age of dinosaurs, I always told them carrying your own weight was 4 kills 1500 damage. With all the armor quirks out there these days that may have changed slightly.

That's too high, if you kill all 48 enemy mechs efficiently the average damage across the team is usually below 1500 and sometimes as low as 1200.

Telling newbies that they aren't "carrying their weight" unless they score well above the possible average is just demoralising. Especially if they play alongside a strong group with strong players scooping up big chunks of the damage potential and kills it's going to be impossible for them to reach those goals.

You should join a Unit as you gain reputation points from games that earn rewards and you get a bonus for joining. If you are a f2p user you can get mc, mech bays and cockpit items

Be careful with reinforcing sometimes it can be better to wait for more reinforcements than do try and reinforce alone if you die again your team will be 11vs12 at the end or worse if other players are doing it

Don't stick out too much unless you want to be targeted and hunted

I think there is only 2 games that are live at anytime consisting of two pre made groups that fight vs a team of solo players or smaller groups of players, personally I prefer to fight against the premade group because it is more of a challenge but if you want something more easy just que up with the premade.or keep checking in cause sometimes there is up to three games going and the third is usually solo players.

1000dmg I think is still more than enough.

Days are gone where even in QP you see 1500dmg+ matches regularly. The average for a carry in QP is 1000dmg give or take now.

With PPFLD being quite a bit better than it was and ballistics being quite a bit better. Some lasers also having more damage per tick - I don't think more damage is neccesarily needed even if there has been tonnage adjustements.

Its only enough if there are veteran players carrying doing 2k plus. Going over my match history in tje past few months, the lowest average damage to kill 48 ive come accross in fp is still 1265 per pilot. No ones goal should ever be "enough if someone else is doing better". It should be "enough if everyone else is doing as well as me"

Yeah so you kinda back up what I'm saying.

If its 1265dmg per pilot then for anyone coming in - at the bare minimum acceptable peformance, 1,000dmg still seems about right for that lower skilled guy getting into the mode, getting mechs right and at lease a start point to look at.

Lets not forget 200dmg is shooting no more than twice more across 4 mechs.

I totally agree with you in that people should wanna do more alas human nature and that of the MWO playerbase, that isn't the case and we all know that.

I tried faction play a couple of times.

I find it disgustingly unbalanced and unfair to new players. This is re-enforced by the 1k plus comments I'm reading. That's rewards for no-life players

I think the devs should expend energy on areas where new players can engage and expand the games population and eliminate older toxic environments like faction play.

Moving those resources to quick play, Have clans verse I.S there one mech only per player. Add the teir system.

It's sad that it has better rewards then Solaris, which is actually on the games label, and far more appealing to new players like myself. Maybe remove the rewards for faction play and add them to Solaris which I know I'd love to play if it was ever populated.

I don't see a point to being financial in a game with only Quick Play accessible to new players.

If you are struggling to do 250dmg per mech, 4x250=1000, you are simply not ready yet. There is a warning when you enter into FP for the first time, there will be monsters beyond this door...

To be fair it’s a lot harder to do for a new player to do 250 damage for each mech in faction than in quick play especially when mech number 4 and sometimes 3 are getting farmed out in the drop zone for sub 100 damage
