I can't see an announcement thread yet and this hit the socials a few hours ago.

Looks the goods. I'm keen.

I'm also sure there will be one or two will claim it isn't "lore accurate" or "real world" Posted Image.

those sightlines and heights are scaring me. I'm afraid some ppc sniper will get up there and poke at me all game or something.

Seems like the lower ground has just as many places to hide.

The tourmaline rock spires look a bit out of place as map assets here, but the rest is super pretty and seems well laid out. Can’t wait to see it, like fighting amongst the cherry blossoms!

Nice change in style from the rest of the QP maps, and much more purple & watery than the old hellebore.

Seems to be relatively large, vertically complex, and highly asymmetric - should result in quite chaotic gameplay like Rubelite.

I just hope that this will not be another bowl-like map like the reworked Caustic Valley or reworked HPG Manifold with inaccessible sniper walls or nests around the edge of the map. If this will be map more like Rubellite Oasis, I will be happy.

Looks like a cross between HPG and Rubellite to me. Lots of high points, but also lots of cover and low areas. Like Rubellite with HPG's basement, but more open?

Its worth noting that while there's a lot of Z levels, the cover looks sparse. I suspect that snipers will be difficult to get to, but very obvious. Which means they'll be easy pickings for JJ skirmishers, and it'll be harder for their teams to bail them out than it is on rubellite.

Its certainly going to be a ride figuring out how to play the map!

From the video you can see that isn't the case so safe to say it won't be.

JJ mechs are going to love it. Slow ground stompers not so much.

OMG. Another sniping fest. I get that people dont like nascar, but is this the only way to fix nascar, by making everything open for snipers? Those new maps are cancer in FP. This one too

And another thing, can we nerf sniping weapons? World champs is over soon and i dont like them to be so powerful anymore after that. I think its hurting the game. Its been hurting FP for long time, but no one plays that so its ok by masses. But QP is now sniping fest too :/

Am i the only one who feels like this?

Sniping isn't overrepresented now. It was underrepresented before. There is a difference. Lowreybalancetm made things do so little damage that snipers actually couldn't kill things before they closed in on them, even big slow mechs. Brawlers got used to clumsily stumbling across open territory with no backup or cover.

Now you actually have to think about positioning, especially in big slow mechs. That's not snipers being overpowered, that's them being present, like they always should have been. They weren't before, and their disappearance was the distortion, not their return. Don't get it twisted.

If you are finding them difficult to manage there are many resources available to you to help understand what snipers do and how, and how best to defeat them. (there are many ways, and many snipers are *not good*)

The original version of this map is a faction play map that hasn't been removed.

So you havent play FP like last 3 years? Try it and see if you come to same outcome about sniping weapons

If your thesis is that snipers have been overpowered for years you are going to have a hard time defending that. Im sorry you feel this way. There are resources available to help you adapt to a changing game. I see you are a tier 1, so I have no doubt you've got the skills to adapt.

You are in a highly vocal minority, yes.

Just because a map has some high spots does not mean its a "sniper fest". There are high spots on Forest Colony, is that a "sniper fest" too? The solution is not to tailor the maps to be "brawler fest" maps, the solution is to learn not to stand around wishing you had cover. Adapt, don't pine for the forgotten days of the perfect "ring around the rosie" maps.

This map seems more well balanced, and Francois had plenty of time to absorb feedback from his last map pass (Caustic) to come up with a geometry that will be selected more often. And I think you're being highly disingenuous to call a map you've never dropped on a "cancer".
