1. The team currently working on MWO is very very small.

2. The situation is probably not going to improve. See this: Mechwarrior status

3. Do you know anything about how superheavy units are handled in the tabletop BattleTech game?

We're all still begging for existing mechs like the Crusader, Wasp, Valkyrie, Solitaire, Urbanmech IIC, Stone Rhino... If they're not moving on these highly voted for classics, they're not going to give us post-jihad level super-heavies that have not been up-voted.

Superheavies require completely different construction rules from 20-100 ton battlemechs. Every item they mount takes up only half the crit space rounded up, so for example a Heavy Gauss only takes up 6 slots on them. They can also equip 2 ammo bins in a single critslot.

I guess this could be sort of circumvented by giving them twice as many slots...But then that makes me wonder about how this works with different engine types. For example, the Inner Sphere tech XL300 carried by the Omega only takes up 2 slots per ST. I'm assuming this means that it can survive a single ST death with IS XL, but the superheavy rules didn't specify last time I read them. And this means that an LFE could potentially survive the loss of both ST's like a STD engine (since 1 slot per ST).

Even if we get past the construction issues there would be massive balance issues. These things would be scaled ginormous and would make massive targets that are too big to use most existing cover. And they would have a real hard time against anything small or even medium sized that gets in close quarters. And they'd likely have low enough agility values to make the pre-Cauldron KDK-3 look like a ballerina by comparison.

In my opinion superheavies are something that should be reserved for a future singleplayer MW game that takes place during the jihad or later (we need a non-Mechassault jihad game please, no more 3050 copypasta), first as a boss battle then maybe you get to salvage it and go on a rampage. Or maybe as the VIP in an escort mode, or boss in a PvE horde mode? Keep them out of competitive PvP though.

Leaving all the timeline and tech issues aside for a second there's also the fact that the majority of superheavy designs go off a tripod layout, which I imagine would be an absolute nightmare to animate and construct hitboxes for properly.

they're also so slow that they'd be close to unworkable in this game

I still have the Ares and Poseidon from the clix games. They are beautiful, hand painted and well detailed. Its been so many years I last played the Wizkid games but their figures are still so collectible.

These things appeared in the waning days of the Republic, when every Clan and House turned against this regime which needed to overcompensate, so its a long way out of the MWO and MW5 timeline.

Alpha strike size is already one of the most complained about issues in the game. Adding bigger mechs makes it worse. Even just big 100tonners like the Stone Rhino would probably break everything. Do we need mechs that are even slower and have even bigger alphas than the Annihilator or Kodiak? It's already possible to dump more speed for more firepower on existing big mechs, but people generally don't because going in the 30's in quickplay is already suicide (going less than 50 is mostly suicide too.)

Do you enjoy playing direwolves and getting picked apart by skirmishers and poptarts who are gone before you can rotate towards them? Do you like getting circled to death by Fleas you can't aim low enough to hit? Do you like raging at your team every match because they didn't escort your slow ***? Do you like being so slow that if you make a single bad hill or corner peek you get wrecked before you can get back in cover? You can already have this play experience with current mechs. We don't even need the Stone Rhino, let alone even bigger stuff.
