hello i have been given a mech I have no use for, I don't seem to be able to sell it ...?
how do i get rid of it?

Click "home"
Click "Inventory" / "mechs"
Sell it

Note: Some event reward mechs cannot be sold

If you REALLY can't stand having it there, you will need to contact support and request that they remove it. Years ago the used to have the time/personnel/willingness to do this, I have no idea if that is still the case.

Please note that if you sell it or get Support to remove it (for the mechs that cannot be sold), you will never be able to revert that action.

you can email support, they will usually delete those useless loyalty mechs on request. keep in mind you usually also lose the mech bay.

That is like 1000% 1st world problem "I have mech that I don't use it's ruining my mech list by being there..."

What mech are you referring to? If its a Trial Mech, its not really yours and you can't sell it. Otherwise, if its in your Inventory screen, you should be able to sell most anything... such as the Firestarter that most of us are getting free this month.

There is a favorites function that allows you to filter out any unwanted mechs in your bays. Click the little star above the mech in the mech list for every mech you want displayed then select the favorites button and poof all the extra mechs are gone.
