So, I played my Boomjager (dual AC20).

I saw a target in 200m, fired and the shots flew true frontal into the CT (it was a heavy with yellow CT). Then I had bad luck and got a headshot and went down.

When the match was over I did 30 damage. Umm...what?! 2 x 20 = 40. A shot cannot have missed either, else it would have been 20 dmg. A missed shot plus extra crit damage couldn't be the case neither because the heavy was far from a CT breach.

Does anyone has an explanation?

If this happens often, record your game play and post it. People's memories are unreliable for these sort of thing.

Did you kill your target with that dual AC20 shot before you died? It's possible that he only had 30 hp left, and so you get credited with 30 damage.

Nope. As I said: his CT was yellow and the dual ac 20 shot didn't even penetrate armour. In short: he lived

I know that sometimes PPC bolts and AC 20 shots pass through target thanks to hitreg. But the 30dmg thing is new.

When you said his CT was yellow, I assumed you meant internal yellow, not armour yellow, my mistake. As a helpful pointer, if you ever call out yellow/orange/red CT in VOIP, make sure that it is internals you're referring to, since that is the accepted practice in game.

Well, if you shot someone with missile doors shut in a location that had them, that's 20% damage reduction. But that's 32 damage, not 30. Are you sure the range was 200?

Jup, that's why I am at such a loss. And the close distance of a Boomjager is about 324m anyway. Nevertheless it is good that no other finds a logical explanation then as well. Guess it was just some PGI magic or some other umm..magic.

Sounds like one of your shots registered on a destroyed location rather than CT. Remember that the damage transfer halves the damage value.

That may explain it. Maybe the convergence was off. After all the arms of the Jagers are quite far apart, especially at close range

I think he just died. Like your airstrike damage doesnt register if you dead.

And sometimes you already dead on server, but you still alive on client for some time (no damage).

Actually, I think it's 40% transfer for a few years now, not half. To increase TTK.
