Why not use the Complete edition Urbanmech Chassis that is already designed and working in the game as a workable Urbanmech IIC.

Its already made and ready to go. and i assume the bolt-ons are already designed and working for it.. All it needs is a few variants that PGI has shown they can do with flying colors and switch the weapons to Clan and Clan skins, decals and cockpit items.

To me it looks like a far closer MWO stylized Urbanmech IIC than an Inner Sphere variant. and it would save PGI a lot of coding.

Tah da another new Mech pack to buy.. Seems like a no brainer to me and i would most definitely buy a pack of them as they look amazing.

Just an idea.. and in my opinion a workable one..

Please at least give it a chance. People want new mechs and PGI don't want or need too much trouble, this in my opinion fits both of those spectrum's.

Thanks in Advance.

I don't mind more chassis, but now I'm going nuts trying to figure out what's the difference physically between the (s) and regular urbies. I thought it was just the skin.

I could throw some € for UM-IIC if it's pretty similar as IS one we got.

Locust IIC would also be possible. The model is there as well ;)

i dont think adding mechs to the game requires any coding. its all xml, models and textures. i figure more iics, is omnis, and weird things like is conversion on clan mech, such as the blackhawk ku would all be low hanging fruit. you could make an owens by remixing the jenner. pgi will have a lot easier time selling new mechs than shiny rehashes that dont add any novelty to the game.

im sure at least a few members of the community could do models and textures for new mechs. cauldronify that stuff. they can expand to include graphics people.

Still would need dev time and artist time to create a new mech, which from what PGI is saying, they seem to have issues with. As it pulls bodies from their other game making.

My idea is trying to circumvent that need so they can bypass the extra work. We as customers still get new mechs and nearly every ones happy..

The whole meme urbanmech factor tells me these would sell. And the Locusts IIC if it too has a special Variant.

My idea is just trying to help everyone out to be honest.

Doesn't the S mean Special? with the +30% cbill bonus?

Yeah the S means special. I meant what's the physical difference aside from skin that makes the S physically different from a cbill urbie.

pgi's problem is they want a cash cow but they dont want to feed it. they dont want to pay anyone to feed it. they dont even want to let someone feed it for free.

A big limitation in getting new mechs out there are the camo schemes and bolt-ons. You have to make over 20 unique schemes for each new type of mech you introduce, plus a whole host of bolt ons. So it's more than just 3D modeling and XML files, its time consuming.

Now you'd assume they could devote one person to doing this since it would be revenue for the company, but here we are.

It was just something they did with a few mech complete editions.. added a completely different skin to the rest.. I have no idea why they did that back then.

I'd rather have the corgi mechs which go 10 kph faster and have an extra 5 tons at 25t.

yea but artist time is cheap. they kept this game alive for years on new mechs alone.

Urbanmech is a tired old joke, worn out until its nowhere close to being funny anymore.

Urbanmech IIC is a forced rewarming of a tired old joke, worn out until its nowhere close to being funny anymore.

No thank you.

Who were that fool who implemented bolt-ons at the first place? Remove them as they are useless and make chassis-adding overcomplicated. Only the elementals are have some use the rest of bolt-ons are meh junk, right to the trasheap!

Apart from the UM2c (what may be a joke maybe not) many 2c mechs could becreated relatively easily from existing IS chassis applying only minimal changes (weapon blocks, distort parts, mixing cockpits). The same goes for new chassises: Mixing existing parts are quicker and easier than creating new models from scratch AND results a good new mech. Thug, Longbow, Devastator, Firestarter omni, Lupus are but a few examples. Or even Clints.

I understand if Cauldronified chassis-production may occur then PGI could hardly ask money for them without pay someway to the creators (royalty, for example). On the other hand, PGI could make S-variants from the "free fan-work" mechs and sell them in packs like the Platinum collections. That would be another matter. There are solutions for problems. Only intention and determination lacks seemingly completely.

No thank you.

Urbie with current quirks at least is not a joke, instead very powerful light mech.

I was going to say the same thing, you beat me to it. After the updates the Urbanmech is a deadly little can in some ways as deadly as a piranha or Flea Mech.

They haven't been a meme in a year or more.

Its a mech made relevant with quirks but the whole design is some old joke from the 90s of a ridiculously slow funny looking light mech.

I'm certain it was funny back in its day, but its been 30 years since and the joke has gotten old but apparently not old enough to be added to MWO and for people to demand an IIC version.

Theres a limit to how much you can beat a dead horse until it stops being funny.

Well I'm not sure how many plays those ridiculously slow versions of urbies (I have played a game or two) , with max engine its fast enough to be good and without all quirks removed Urbies would still be way better than Jenners for example.
It wouldn't be very good anymore but still far from worst lights in the game if other lights would lose quirks also.

personally I have played BT 1st time like 5 Years ago and there weren't urbies available :( so my 1st contact with Urbie was MWO.
Urbie IIC would probably be pretty damn good dual LPL poking machine for example if those have similar hard points/locations as IS counterparts.

the dekkles and bolt-ons seem to just be an asset pack that they bought from *game asset store*. very few of them have anything to do with the battletech universe or even make sense.

i don't like that the community has had to resort to encouraging pgi to cut even more corners in a game made almost entirely out of cut corners. its strange times we live in.

cauldron mech creations i think would work. thats like adding mod support to the game. there are those in the community who want to mod. obviously those mechs would need to be approved by pgi and balanced by the cauldron. its not without some setup cost.

a lot of people would pay for the privilege to make their own skins, deckles, and bolt ons. but then pgi has to pay somone to shuffle through them and make sure that they comply with the tos, don't infringe any copywrites, aren't used as a cheat, etc. probibly have to revamp the report system in case something slips by.
