It's 2022.

Can we update the UI for 4k users?

What you see below is what I see exactly:

I am sorry to report, but we can not see the state of UI which you happen to be seeing. The images you posted fail to show for us. :(

Argh... Imgur is another site whose images will not load for me, and I can not work around the use of their album mode... Can not afford a new upgraded computer either, and I'm trapped in a basement-level position of the economic food chain. I'll have to try your reddit thread link, which I can at least switch to the old style.

<<< snip >>>

Alright... I've looked at your images. That said, I do agree with the need to update MWO for 4K Monitors at this point, and would have been giving SUPPORT before this as well because the issue has already been previously brought up. You can search the Forums to see what I mean about that. :o

However, I have also heard that there are multiple issues standing in the way. One is the current EG7 parent company and how much of PGI's resources that are unavailable at this time. The second is that 'CryEngine 3' happens to be rather old technology, but is what MWO has to run on unless it somehow gets translated onto a new game engine. Further, while you may not care about Windows 7 Support for MWO at all, there are many of us out there that will end up kicked off MWO permanently if they drop Windows 7 from being able to play. And finally, you may have noticed that the Minimum Hardware Requirements are indicated to not be very aggressive, because the people at PGI wanted as many people to be able to come and play MWO today as physically possible. So whatever solution is finally implemented, it needs to take Windows 7 and old computers into account, all while being able to account for people who have Super-High-Resolution Monitors as well. That way, you get the scaling for your 4K Monitor that you need in order to be comfortable with playing MWO and not have to mess up your computer's configuration, and people on the other side who still can not be among those ranks may continue to play MWO anyway instead of being thrown out in the cold.

By the way, if you're seriously wondering why you can not throw people who lack the latest and greatest hardware out of MWO entirely, then think about how much of the player base likely does not have the best stuff. Even further, think about all the people who are probably not running Windows 11 yet for any reason, as not everyone can afford to be on your level. You will then find your answer there, because losing everyone who does not have the latest hardware from the MWO Player Base would end up killing the game entirely, as the MatchMaker would then end up unable to make a Match to play for a far longer period than the longest that you have experienced to date. I think you can see how losing people over Operating System & Hardware Requirements is simply not acceptable in any way. :(

I think you need to learn how coding works.
Its literally a setting change to detect what resolution its being run on and then to load the corresponding UI (that needs developers to size and code for) for the user.
Previous level functionality will always be preserved.
If you look at the last screenshot, 4k IS already supported in actual gameplay. Look at how much extra screenspace I get to look around the cockpit. Its the menu that needs support. It doesn't matter the game development engine is old. This is literally a UI menu change to include 1 more resolution scaling.
And Windows 7 has 4k since 2014-2015.
