The recent 8v8 event showed how much better and balanced teams are with 8v8 vs 12v12.
In 8v8 one rarely saw wolf packs of 3-4 light mechs.
Since 8v8 won't be a thing for MWO, the game devs are [Redacted], making us waste our time here, it's time to move on.

I’ve found that shooting them works nicely. Also not running off by myself (or being left behind, either case). And I’ve yet to see a piranha with stealth armor. They deal a LOT more damage than a flea, locust, or commando… the things with stealth armor.
see… if I find something happening to me all the time, getting dead the same way over and over… the common theme in there is ME. I need to adapt my play style and stop doing whatever it is that gets me killed all the time, be that positioning, marksmanship, or just general strategy!
but hey, nice seeing you. Give someone your stuff on the way out.

The right thread for complaining that the light 'Mechs are OP is here: Light Mechs Are Screwed Up

Lol what 8v8 were you playing. Fast light/medium wolf packs were great in 8v8.
Yeah, 8v8 meant less eyes and less firepower, which means more of the map can be utilized, which favors maneuver... which is what fast mechs excel at.
Imagine if the NFL had 50 players on the field per team at a time, for a total of 100 players on the field simultaneously. There wouldn't be any room to utilize smaller speedier dudes. All your receivers would get jammed at the line and have no room to squeeze through any gaps... there wouldn't be any gaps. Pure size and strength would dominate.

Light mechs are very strong in very specific circumstances, but player skill and team cohesion can prevent such circumstances from occuring as well as mitigating the effects of such a light mech chasing you around. Due to the nature of the 12 v 12 "skirmish" format, such circumstances are rare, which make the times a piranha does successfully cut you off from the team and shred you to pieces all the more jarring, and those are the times we remember.
Though I'm far from a perfect player (as well as far from a perfect light pilot myself), I'm willing to you what I know.
Like legit, I'm on PGI's discord as well as Everything Battletechs and r/battletech's server, same username, the screaming owl pfp. @me and we'll work out a time to hop in a call together
I even have a Jenner IIC streak-boat as an anti-piranha light mech specifically if you want to see some carnage.

That was the entire point. Before an assualt could simply shoot them.
"Just shoot them!" is the reply. lol ok sure. Basically if you get ganked by a light or two
in something like an annihilator you choice is to throw up a UAV call for help and hope
your team is paying attention (good luck). Naturally the light pilots don't want the ride to end.
Lights have a lot of short range firepower especially something like the piranha. All on a platform
thats very small and very hard to hit. The torso twist nerf was the worst decision that PGI ever made.

The problem with this scenario isn't a light ganking an Annihilator. The problem is the Annihilator pilot being alone and disconnected from the team, perfectly ripe for a ganking.
Assaults need escorts to keep lights off their backs, that requires teamwork. The team must make a point to keep their biggest guns alive long enough for them to get into position, BUT, the assault pilot needs to cooperate and understand that they need the protection of their team to protect them from light 'mech ganks.
In short: teamwork OP, pls nerf.

So basically the only defense against lights is to huddle together like a herd of frightened cattle. If you need the whole rest of your team to deal with a mech 70 tons lighter than you than its not the assault mech thats the issue. Its the light mechs that are the problem. Like I said before light mechs don't want the ride to end. Light mechs are supposed to be spotters and scouts not destroyers of everything.

That's not even true in battletech, and even if it was, you can't have that, because this isn't battletech.
