I want to remind about Melee and people stopped playing the game because them put addons with chainsaws who them can not use.
Primary goal = Make hits with another mech cause damage to left or right arm
secondary goal = Make leg damage removed completely.
Result = Melee revived and death from above reintroduced.
Last resort shouldn't be punishing players to pick jumpjets over small lasers.
#Lost-Legs-Sinks-Ships.
New tools in the box, the weapons are already in the game.

well at this point I wont lie, if they added melee it wouldn't hurt it's long term survival, janky mechanics or not it might even bring people back for a minute.

Yeah....... that would be great, but for those of who recall the old collision/falling system, we unfortunately know that the code can't handle it, so I wouldn't hold my breath until "MWO2".

Remove leg damage = Death from above works again.
Leg damage replaced with arm damage = LRM buff and melee works again.

This is PGI we're talking about here, working on a crusty old spaghetti build of cryengine. They can't even be bothered to get ammunition swapping, let alone spend a week or two making a basic attack animation for all the mech chassis, adding a new action input, QA, balancing, and bug testing.
MWO is EoL when it comes to development unless the community harasses them about a single feature nonstop.

They probably never tried to do ammo switching.
Either way, I'm glad the game doesn't have it. It wouldn't add anything significant to the core gameplay, encourage even worse bracket builds, and holy **** this game doesn't need more buttons.
A week or two for "basic attack animations" is awfully generous considering the available roster.

Yep. Esp the single feature even when it it pgi's fault. The biggest thread in this game's history is the one where pgi screwed up all the catapults geometry and took years to finally fix.

What's the problem with bracket builds? And MW5 accomplishes this without adding more buttons.

Why be good at one or two things when you can be terrible at 5 at the same time?
I suppose nothing is wrong with bracket builds, if you earnestly enjoy trying to be an NPC in an online shooty game.

I'm only aware of that being in a mod, that has extra buttons. That probably has utility in a much slower single player experience.
The settling point in the game we are actually talking about would have just been to include extra launchers or whatever. IMO crit splitting would be the one thing I'd really like to have in this game.
