Was chatting about where to shoot targets and remembered the part where, if you're in an Urbanmech running away from your target and you have your torso facing backwards to shoot the target, the target can hit your butt to deal a back shot on your 'mech even though the torso is facing the target.

Wondering if it would be possible to change up the hit boxes so.. hitting the crotch doesn't deal damage to the torso but to the legs instead.

It just seems to be a horrible strat killer to simply shoot the butt of an Urbanmech that has its torso facing you and be able to strip its back armor.

Nah, it really doesn't need to be changed. Yes, you can get shot in the back doing the "Urbie move", but that's the trade off for being able to run away while shooting (also, not being able to see where you're going, but rear-view cameras are lostech).

Just remember, any other mech running away will have much more of it's back exposed, unless running twisted (which is honestly a good idea), and even then the butt is still exposed. As it is, an urbies butt is a hard shot to hit reliably, even for someone who's a decent shot and remembers it, unless it's running in a straight line. Just remember to swerve occasionally, and tap the jump jets once in a while to throw off any shots.

Then there's the part where if you're facing an enemy, the enemy can hit parts of your 'mech to register as a back shot even though they are not behind you.

Granted the butt of an Urbanmech is tiny in comparison to 'mechs in the heavier weight classes I just see it as being dumb how, instead of hitting the actual torso, you simply deal a shot just below the waist between the legs to have a CT back torso hit.

I just figure maybe there would be some fine tuning that could be done so you could protect your back by doing actual torso twisting instead of having to worry about which direction your butt flap is facing.

No, there really isn't, for every trade-off where you fine tune it so you can't hit the back from the front, you exacerbate the other problem, hitting the front from the back. they're directly proportional. You cannot improve one without making the other worse.

You're wanting to buff what is already the toughest light in the game? to make it even more exception because of it's already exceptional attribute of 360 torso rotation? why? it'll just result in it being even more tough, and either being op, or in need of nerfs. What justification do you have for it receiving even more preferential treatment, other than the obvious 'urbie is life', which of course, it is. ;)

The most annoying thing is that it is exceptional; there's at least one other mech in the game (Thanatos) that had 360 degree rotation in previous titles but lost it here.

There were a few other mechs from MW4 that had 360 rotation too. I think the Thor was one of them.

Yeah, thought so; the Thanny was the only one I remember off the top of my head.

Mad Dog, too.

But the Summoner, Mad Dog, and Thanatos do not have the tabletop version of extra torso twist range, while the UrbanMech does, so I'm not surprised all of those that had 360 degree twist in MW4 lost it in MWO. Except, of course, for the UrbanMech, which IIRC wasn't even in MW4 outside of mods.

What's notable is that several chassis that, until very recently, couldn't torso twist at all in the tabletop were given the ability to do so in MWO (and some in MW4, for that matter) years before CGL deleted the No Torso Twist design quirk from the rulebooks entirely.

Some of us ONLY did the Urbanmech preorder so that we could get 360 torso twist in the game. Hoping it would translate into at least the Thanny getting it if it was added. Alas, due to that not being “lore”, they did not. Loved the Thanny in MW4.

I understand but it'd be nice if, when hit from the front on any 'mech, my armor doesn't vanish from the backside when the front armor remains untouched and my internals turn yellow as a result.

That would be a negative. I don't want to "buff what is already the toughest light in the game" I want to make it so when someone's battling an Atlas they can't simply hit the butt flap to deal a CT BACK SHOT. The Urbanmech is just the main reason of the topic which spills down to other 'mechs that have the same issue when faced with being hit in the derriere.

Every mach has the butt plate between the legs that counts as CT back. No reason to change this on the Urbie and give it special treatment.

Having said that, the game is waaaay beyond changing and tweaking hitboxes at this point. Honestly we can be glad its still going.

I'd definitely like it changed on all mechs instead of just the Urbie getting special treatment. IMO the crotch never should've been torso hitbox to begin with. It should be a 50/50 split between the two legs.

But at least it's not as bad as it used to be. At one point the ENTIRE crotch was pure CT on all mechs, which basically made torso twisting useless against people who knew about this.
