I just transmit "Contact [grid coordinates]" when I see a blip long enough to get where it is on the map.

Some people say "visual left" and "visual right."

That's no good, it's like people who say "they're coming from the right". Always use absolutes not relatives to you!

You're looking into it way too deep.

The majority of players are neither talking on nor listening to comms. It's not that kind of game. I mostly use it so I can pretend I'm playing a team game just in case I ever play one again.

last time i used comms i successfully informed the team that an enemy flanking maneuver was under way. the team shifted in response and we won the game. that said i don't often see a situation where saying something would have that kind of result. most of the time people are ignoring you or other drop callers and are not interested in your input, other times people are relying on muscle memory because lots of us have tens of thousands of games under our belts. i prefer to concentrate on my gunnery and positioning, which i know produces results, vs trying to heard cats, which has varied results.

(Thanks for the chuckle. Not too many of those elsewhere in MWO, these days.)

Meanwhile, back here in what we like to think of as...reality:

Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliett, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Yankee, Zulu.

From Wikipedia--the font of all contemporary wisdom:

The International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet, commonly known as the NATO phonetic alphabet, is the most widely used set of clear code words for communicating the letters of the English alphabet.

To create the code, a series of international agencies assigned 26 code words acrophonically to the letters of the English alphabet, so that the names for letters and numbers would be as distinct as possible so as to be easily understood by those who exchanged voice messages by radio or telephone, regardless of language differences or the quality of the connection.

I dont think i have said the TROT part of foxtrot in more than a decade. I just kept calling it fox...everyone seemed to know what i meant.

I have found that I cannot use "Echo" anymore as it stops my Alexa device from playing. Can't use Computer or Alexa since those words are bandied around to much near my actual Computer and TV, Radio commercials lol.

Amazon needs to program in more activation words!!!

Amusingly, I do have "computer" as my wake word for my device. Mostly because of my being a Star Trek fan, granted. I've had to all but remove the word from my vocabulary because of it, at least within the confines of my room. :P

You're wrong a lot more people actually listen than you think.
