Yeah, it seems that good old Heraclitus was right (πόλεμος πάντων μὲν πατήρ ἐστι - War is the father of all) and war is omnipresent. Also there already was a war to end all wars, which resulted in..another war. Diplomacy failed once again (be it intended or unintended) and ruthless leaders (all sides, imho) play with their soldiers lives.
Minimising war however is in effect - the Hague Conventions and the Geneva Conventions are tools to minimise war. As you may have guessed: They only work as long as the warring factions play accordingly. It would be nice, if they did, but then again "no war would be nice". Read as "nicest".

Can war be justified? Sure! A country has the right to defend itself. Is, however, starting a war justified? Don't think so.
