At this late date it probably doesn't matter.
But PGI's tone deafness is why this has always been a niche game.
When they said classic Terra Therma I started polishing my ring.
After a couple of matches I put my ring back in the box.
Like I said tone deafness.

All the outlying areas are the same. The goat paths are exactly as I remember them. its the central bowl that has changed, but at least there are 5-6 good sniper spots on top of various volcanoes that you can use to snipe or launch at people silly enough to stand on the top. 
As I recall it, the character of the map wasn't all tied to the choke point gaming in the caldera, but that's just me.

New map is better. Old map caused too many one-sided matches due to "king of hill" design. Who takes caldera first => wins. As enemy team just couldn't concentrate enough firepower to get to caldera through way too narrow entrances.

I am fine with the revamped map, but the center structure feels "unfinished" a lot of possibilities to get stuck, and as far as I have seen it its peekaboo with big pillars.
I preferred the Classic "vanilla" Version.
