Crowdsourcing Fun Event Queue Modes

Since we all seem to have some idea of what we enjoy about event queue, why not put them in a convenient, organized list that Daeron can lift easily. Also while we're at it, does anyone remember if they wrote down the inaugural event queue modes? I swear they did but I can't find the post.

Max Tonnage 140 (that's enable a max 4 from the heaviest lights to drop for those whom luv tankin')
Map Terra Therma (not the revived zombie)
Game mode (assault, domination, conquest, etc) Conquest (gather 1500 points!!!)
Modifiers +100% speed but -50% armour (would be the best dogfight in yer life!)
Match Duration 20 mins seems decent

Oh, no alcohol, red bull or drugs for you Locust or Jenner pilots!

I'd like to see a list of tunable variables from Daeron so we can see what is possible.

Something crazy like Laser Disco--Beam duration + 300%, all other weapons do 50% their normal damage (to encourage laser use).

Hell, the events write themselves. set up an event next month and call it "Live Short and Prosper" with only Vulcan mechs"

Going off this, I suggest an event limited to all the free mechs given out over the last year, or quarter, or 6 months.

honestly i don't like the 1v1, 2v2 matches. 8v8 is the bare minimum for me.

one of my favorites was Urbie Derby. though one with mediums only would be fun. or even something like Blackjacks only (in Lore they made a **** ton of them but they got some bad press in the early days with some issues that were later remedied. suffice to say many Great houses saw the mech as something to give out the Mercs and militias so most Merc units had at least a couple Blackjacks.)

though honestly any specific mech matches (like the aforementioned Urbie Durby should be limited to a few hours ince not everyone would have the required mech (especially new players just starting out)

eq was an exciting but neglected addition to the game. id like to see a follow up to add more features and more general use of the mode. like there should be a few games queued up for the weekends, every weekend. even if you have to rng the game rules.

Part of the issue might be that the individual events have to be manually started. So that could be one reason why they don't do them more often.

yea, fp also has this problem, if somone at pgi didnt do the setup the thing can easily go down. thats why i feel like these things need a default fallback mode so pgi doesnt have to rush to make new ones. just let the defaults run in the mean time, and take your time setting up your actual events.

Paintball: bullet/damage sprites are replaced with multi-colored ones. Increased armor/reduced damage.

Golden gun: Some kind of really slow projectile, like a narc or snub ppc. One shot damage (or just zero armor). Then some kind of monotype chassis and drop deck of 4. It would need some workshopping. Maybe throw stealth in there.

stock urbie solaris city skirmish. dropdecks enabled with a 45 minute game clock. put the urbanmech pack on sale for the duration.

you know i like that idea. tie in specific mech EQ matches with flash sales on that mech. so if you have say Steiner Scout lance (Atlas only match with or without drop deck) then for the duration have all Atlas mechs on sale. it would be an interesting way to get folks to try new mechs especially if you did it with lesser used mechs. just come up with a clever name for it and go to town.

I'd honestly just like a public lobby list to do weird stuff (solaris, stock matches, special rules, whatever) which you can actually see and browse, which likely wouldn't take long given the apparent game population. I acknowledge the issue that this would probably take UI design but then maybe it wouldn't take too much? That sort of battlenet style join system would probably breathe a bit of life into other functions including now abandoned modes and somewhat give people agency to link up and find stuff without having to depend on egregious functions like FP and the old solaris queues or explicitly link up out of game to do anything in custom lobbies.

I would find this model much more sustainable than hardcoded, live supervised one-off event things (which can still happen and would provide actual rewards/adjustments in player status). I haven't looked around very far so I apologize if this has been suggested and dismissed before.

Yep.

Flash sales of mechs to go along with events that day that are limited to that mech, but offer 2x - 3x XP and CBill rewards would be cool.

I generally like most anything in EQ myself, and would like to see it running a lot more with *almost* any settings involved. I assume we all learned our lessen that rockets should *not* be unlimited ammo after our last fiasco with that sort of thing, but it was worth a try. And I'm definitely okay passing on anything in Conquest mode - 'cause Conquest is the devil! Posted Image

Thanks for taking domination off of the big maps. It doesn't work for far away spawns.

Domination is fine on big maps as long as your team as a quick mech or two on it. i have almost never had a Dom match that ends in base capture before the team can reach the circle (well unless the team just ignores the game mode and takes the wide nascar approach.)

but yeah most of all we need EQ every weekend.
