Another neat addition would be an option to turn "override" by default on or off. So pilots who prefer to ride their Mechs with active override dont have to activate it each game (and therefore avoid to forget it sometimes Posted Image).

You two almost have a good idea here. I think however that you're both missing something which I consider important to this puzzle. Such an option as this should be on a per-Mech basis as some Mechs simply have no need of the Override being pre-activated or simply should never have it enabled. Having it apply to all Mechs globally by default can steal from maintaining the mental awareness needed to use the Override in a responsible manner. That could easily mean the difference between surviving to win a Match that you're in, or having an overheat which kills you along with the effect of losing instead. For the moment with this post, you get a...

...from me, and a hope that you'll amend the idea in the near-future to the benefit of all whom it could help. ;)

I understand your point. Actually, I had this in mind too. But when I posted this idea, I decided to choose the "simpler to adopting in the game code" version, thus maybe the chance it will be implemented is higher.
I imagined this just as a checkbox in the settings, so only the pilots which wants it active can turn it on per standard. Everyone else can still let it unchecked and use "O" as usual.

I'm just partially with you with this. Posted Image
But I've lost once too often because of getting a side torso shot off during a fight and power down because of the following heat spike. And if you shut down midfight is almost equal as instant death.
So with override, if I, in general, have an eye on the heat scale, I can at least dish out damage before I blow, or even take the other Mech with me. Or maybe even kill the enemy and survive (with some structure heat-damage).

It's also important to bring attention to the fact that you can choose to shut your mech down at any time. If I know I have cover, I keep shooting to over ride the hide and power down.

Or they could fix the insta-shutdown / insta-death when LFE or CXL engine pops a torso?

If your 'Mech is not overheating at that moment, you will not get that "insta-shutdown / insta-death".
