But since that might take a while, let's narrow it down. Steam client or MWO Portal? You hit play, it loads the splash screen, you throw in your password and... is there an error? What part of that does it get stuck on?

I'd also still make a speed test to your ISP.

i use steam client then the MWO portal is open when i press play the connect simple fail like 3 to 10 times
it's worse when the client crash after alt tab to much

This suggests that you run the client in full screen mode. It is recommended that you run MWO in full window mode, bc the client doesn't like your GPU switching into idle mode.
Support will recommend to run a tracert to the login/game servers. Have you tried this already? It seems like your client fails to connect the server in NA for authentification.

I don't think the game server login is handled through the website. Not sure what the correct IP to trace would be, but that's not it.

I roughly 25% of the time hit the "Play Screen", hit "Play" then wait in limbo for several minutes waiting for the splash screen to enter username and password. If I hit the portal again, I do not use Steam, it tells me I cannot have two instances of the program running. I sometimes Ctrl/Alt/Del and close MWO then try again. Eventually it will hit the splash screen.

Running repair does nothing.

This has happened for years.

For me it is what it is.

i really wish i could just use a credentials file and auto-logon.

it does go through their database servers though, and those are definitely the bottleneck.
