New Game Mode Idea

Game mode for any map.
All players starting like usual ,but all map have strong electromagnetic field: lasers ,ppcs, gauss weapons can't shoot at all , missiles and ac's have 90% fail, and 50% ammo explode if use.(same for rockets pack.).Only little circle in centre of map is free from this field(name this battle circle-BC). Every min BC expanding and after 5 minutes cover all map. Stealth armor masc and ecm does not work outside BC. Strong radar jam outside BC.

At the beginning of Mech5, there's a ion storm or something that messes with your censors. Visually, it looked really cool.

For MWO it would be cool to have a map that simulates periodic ion storms and messes with your targeting systems.

Rings of Power came out and seemingly alienated it's own audience, although I did personally enjoy it..
Hopefully now that it's over, they can divert more resources back to MWO from LoTRO.

Fantasy has been en vogue for the past decade or so, but there is speculation that SciFi is going to be the next big cultural wave over the next decade.

or use the event queue more to have modes that emphasize different weapons via buff modifiers.

yeah i think EQ is the perfectly place to test these sorts of ideas. that way not only could you test them in QP style situations but also in FP situations without effecting either game mode. (its one of the reasons i like the EQ so much)

as for the OPs idea no i don't like it one bit. as someone who plays LRM often (partly due to liking the weapon system in general and partly due to some physical handicaps that can flare up and give me troubles) i find that there is already so much ECM (especially in higher tiers) that cam make them almost useless in some matches. though i am not opposed to environmental effects. hell i kind of like the Frozen City maps where there is a blizzard going on and you can't see **** unless you are using alternate vis modes (hell it would give more of a reason to use em)

first 5 min ,i guess, you walking or sitting with your LRM and after 5 min all map is open for any kind of weapon.
i think walking without weapon and ecm /stealth will force team be NOT passive.

still don't like it.

though perhaps reversing it so the whole map is clear with the unaffected zone shrinking as the match goes on. increasing the the total time so it takes 75% of the total match time for the BC to reach its smallest size (perhaps a bit smaller than the usual Domination circle). that way you can still get your initial sort of long range trade at the start but then as the match goes on it forces the mechs closer and closer. called it "Impending Storm" or something like that. if you want to be even more interesting with it have it so that the central point is somewhat random (say have 3 or 4 different locations where it could be on each map so that people are forced in the end to fight in new areas other than the center of the map, this would be really interesting on the nascar heavy maps with their central rotation features. can imagine say Solaris where you you end up having to fight in some area other than the center.)
