The headline just shoud make clear i am not a person who has redicilous ideas that simply arent possible from a EFFORT/RESULT perspective.Indeed i suggested taking quick play maps into faction warfare before that feature went live.
My idea to make faction warfare a game mode (that has excelent features allready like a huge galaxy map to be contested e.g. end game and respawns for mechs e.g. everybody likes) that is not completely wasted and forgotten, but instead incooperate into the live server permanently and ongoing as long as MWO lasts is:
- TEAM COMPOSITION
make FW run in the background taking the present match maker into the process by grouping up IS and CLAN players into 2 seperate teams (only faction affiliation is important, mechs and loadouts dont) and filling up empty slots with mercenaries.
since FW dont fight over planets per House/clan vs House/clan but instead
Faction vs Faction this shoud be managable because there are enough players who choose
a faction for the conflict (IS and CLAN alike) and woud have further more incentive to do so
if FW become a thing.
Also there are enough players without a affiliation to afaction e.g, mercenaries to fill empty slots
- MATCH CONTRIBUTION TO CONFLICT
every match that concluded in the quickplay queue shoud contribute to IS/CLAN progress to conquer a planet (the one which is fought over atm).
Mercenary players contribute to the team they where present in that match OR dont count into
the result of overall planet conquest progress, instead they gain progress to their personal
progress in mercenary rank (bla bla bla didnt thought that over completely, but that also isnt my job)
- MATCH VARIATION
it shoud be random what mode is played (from the quick play match variations) but
map/mode vote woud also work.MAtches are played like normal quick play queue
just with the result contributing to the conflict.
Invasion mode coud kick off when 2 teams full of IS/CLAN players are reached.they may
have bigger impact on planet conquering progress.
- CONCLUSION
there is so much potential to the existing FW features,
they just need to be implemented into the every day game mode quick play which 90% of players participate in.
It woud give the game a true meaning, faction ranks and units woud all have their right to exist
(yea 12 man groups shoud also be allowed) giving MWO a real depth and worthy to be called a mechwarrior game.
For sure, developers woud have to work out severall things but the foundation shoud be solid with this suggested gameplay loop
