When I flee and run through a laser beam of a friend...no problem, it happens.

What I hate...

1. firing at your mates in the spawn area - especially not apologizing and in the worst case have a cheeky reply on your lips when someone complains when you shoot him

2. stand behind a mate despite there is a huge area where you could park your mech and then this poor dude has to eat the alphas of a couple of mechs because he cannot move back

These are unfortunately no rare occasions.

Yep, back-blockers are a particularly low form of life. I guess when these people are not at a crowded sports event, trampling somebody's grandmother in the stands, they play MWO.

Agreed that its infuriating when someone stops you backing up (ive rage alphad someone for it at least once), but some of the blame here has to go to the map designers.

Im thinking of Canyon network in particular - the ramps to climb the canyon walls are few and far between and almost universally only wide enough for one mech, meaning that mechs without jumpjets are often left with a choice between sitting there doing nothing, trying to squeeze past someone (and potentially back blocking them if they need to back up) and moving further along to find another ramp, which (imo) is pretty much the primary cause of the Nascar effect on that map. Due to the massive popularity of Canyon and Snow Canyon (Hibernal rift) i now pretty much only play mechs with jumpjets.

It's first come first serve to the lanes of fire.

I can't count how many times I'd peek a lane of fire for a quick exchange only to find out that now I can't back up and now I'm in a desperate battle of survival until the mech behind me "allows" me to back up! Posted Image

It's like, even if you thought I was pushing forward where was your lane of fire going to be? Through my armor? Or was I expected to die so you could get a clean shot? Posted Image

easy fix, avoid standing directly on the corner. It's better to stand a bit back from a corner, because you can clear it faster and have it cover you faster again. geometrics. Posted Image
And if someone stands behind you, you can always lunge forward behind the coverPosted Image

Can confirm.

It's worse with GRs. At least with laser spam you can pull your beam if someone blocks your shot. Sometimes I'm zoomed in and trading, I charge and let it go and OH! someone saw me shooting, saw some daylight, and jumped in to get an alpha off. Double-digit team damage. Thanks.

I'd feel worse if it didn't always seem to happen right after I open up a CT...

This is why Sphere PPCs are great, the min range means that if someone steps in front of you by mistake you *don't hurt them* :v

Played a match on Canyon. Jumped up on a ridge to chase a light mech. I started getting hit by sniper fire, so I dropped down. Unfortunately I dropped between a team mate and a boulder. The team mate was moving forward, towards the boulder, going after the same mech I was. I got pinned between the Kodiak team mate and the boulder. Instead of waiting for me to get out of the way, the Kodiak alpha strikes me in the back. I get on comms and say "Nice team kill dude!" He types back in global that I shouldn't have gotten in front of him. I quit the match.

Very next match, he is teamed with me again. This time he gets on global chat and tells me that if I jump in front of him again, he will kill me again and that goes for the entire team. So, this is confirming that he killed me on purpose.

With team mates like that, who needs an enemy??

Now, I can understand that friendly fire happens. It has happened before and it will happen again, but team killing on purpose is NOT ok.

Much. Don't hurt them much. Remember, the damage of regular PPCs trails off to zero, it doesn't drop to zero at 89 meters anymore. Only Heavy Peeps do that now.

Well, yeah, but usually when someone walks unexpectedly into your firing lane its at about five foot range :)
