i tend to use Terra Therma for my testing since its one of the hotter maps. that way i know that if everything works well on that map it should work well on all maps

Side Note--- can we please get some realism on HPG. it should be a hot map not a cold one. it is supposed to be on a moon or something with little to no atmosphere. in such conditions it would be much harder for mechs to shed heat not easier.

Atmosphere is an insulator as you can saturate it to the point of combustion. Space is the ultimate heatsink since the saturation point is nearly infinite as long as the radiator is not facing an active radiant energy source like the sun. However internal heatsinks that rely on convection and a blower to force air past them would become less efficient.

Play around with this to get the values.

To what effect? It's a destructible, inanimate object. You can't compare this to a live environment anyway. So, why?Posted Image

headshot practice of course. now that solaris is defunct.

Ive only managed 10 headshots in my career, and that took 3 years XD. I usually got them on the atlas and annihilator. It would be nice to experiment with other mech hitboxes in training grounds.

the trick is aim small miss small. i always try to aim for the head rather than the ct, i usually at least hit the ct. every now and again i get lucky. especially on mechs like the timby, mad cat, dire wolf, warhawk, archer, blackjack, jagermech, cataphract, etc the head is so near the center of mass that headshots almost happen accidentally. i normally rack timbies though.

Hey I only just found your Guillotine video and post on Reddit two days ago, so impressive man! congrats for sure. I've tried the Thanatos myself, but man I cannot handle it the way you do!

My Thanatos is a complete meme at this point especially in T2. The Marauder II Ive been using is better all around and has much greater range with 2 ER PPC and 2 Gauss. Ive had one 6 kill game with the TNS on HPG with brawling but it was a lot of hide and seek with the stealth armor in a 1v3 a (9-11 game) that I clutched but otherwise it is a struggle to use.

some players are human aimbots, unfortunately i am not one of those, i dont even have my first 100 heads yet. 95 as of last time i looked, most of those were scored in solaris against lazy annihilators. also dont shut down in front of me.

Im inclined to agree with OP. It would be hugely helpful for learning hitboxes and would be nice to mix things up. Having different mechs in different testing grounds would have saved me hours of learning and checking head hitboxes.

Those hitbox diagrams are beyond invaluable and are like a second bible to me. However, some of the head hitboxes are inaccurate (some I pointed out if you check the comments on the second page) and actual hands on target practice is much more useful imo. Even if it is just on a mech standing still since those are 90% of the shots were likely to land. There are ways around this, like going into academy and changing to a different mech to then shoot your shutdown mech, but it is much less practical than testing grounds since most mechs can't be locked onto in academy.

I would love for every base mech chassis in the game to be just lined up on the runway. Would be so nice to be able to practice with every mech in the game other than just a couple that are already there in the training grounds.

I don't think the engine will support much more than what we have in normal play due to memory issues. Remember each mech would have to have its complete data set loaded into the map and thats hundreds of mechs. This is why they only have a handful on the test maps.

Yeah, but we know for fact you can have 24 mechs, so there's room to increase the count.

Very true and the max amount is probably a bit higher than that if they are not going to be doing anything and only taking damage one at a time.

Then make more than one map. either load them all by weight or break them into Clan/IS etc..depending on the what the game can handle.

map 1 Assault
map 2 Heavy
map 3 Medium
map 4 Light

Correct me I am wrong but I don't think it would be very hard to use the river city map and just spawn all Assault mechs on the runway?

looks like there are 29 Assault mechs in the game from a quick count; so it would seem quite doable for a minimum effort. It would be nice to have but its not something I think they would even sink that small of resources into.
