I'm testing a 32:9 monitor currently. Game runs fine with 5120x1440, but 2 issues I couldn't resolve so far:

1. In a match everything outside the cockpit seems a bit distorted. Can't describe it better. Might be a FOV thing, I'll have to change this around a bit more to maybe find some value that works for me.

2. In game font. Unreadable, either it's distorted or blurry or something. Can't read chat, have to navigate menus by memory.

Would love to get some fixes for these.

You realize this is a 10+ year old game that hasn't had any significant development work in probably the last 4-5?

For the fov, we got it working for another widescreen player here (seems you need bigger values than what the game UI allows Posted Image )

You need to add cl_fov= [what you want] in a user.cfg file (instructions are in the link and you can ask questions there).

id settle for some basic ui scaling for the mechlab so i can use 4k without having to get out my reading glasses while tweaking my builds.

If you get it working, then you just run the same mech for the rest of your days.

i run a wide variety of mechs, especially ones with low numbers of games on them.

If they haven't scaled the ui for 4k(still an extremely niche resolution btw) then ultra widescreen is out the window. I solved my 4k ui issues by moving to a 58" display. Now everything is big enough to read. Posted Image

Btw if anyone is wanting to move up to big screen 4k then this is a killer deal. I have one myself along with a 120hz model. Hisense makes top quality hardware and their slave labor and currency devaluation allows them to sell them for a fraction of the price of western made sets.Posted Image

Fully hdr compliant for pc as long as your gpu supports it and it has ultra low latency as good or better than many dedicated gaming panels that are waaaay more expensive. I couldn't play mechwarrior on anything else now. It also has excellent hardware upscaling so if you run your game at 1440p native the panel will do the upscaling and it looks basically just like 4k only with a slight taa blur without having to use taa. 1080p looks decent but you do more easily notice its upscaled.

edit: Just noticed they have a newer slightly smaller model with vrr if you have an amd gpu. Sadly it won't work with nvidia unless you get the higher end tv. But for amd users it would be great for those who are just shy of a steady 60 to get rid of stutters.

I saw the thread, for me it seemed like TAMTAMBABY uses their screen as 9:21 instead of 21:9 - I could be wrong though, was a bit difficult to follow their thoughts.
Thanks for suggesting FOV values outside of what the slider allows - due to the font, it's a bit difficult to find anything in the menus. Posted Image I'll try some high and low values to see what could work (and probably stay away from playing a Piranha with the game in fullscreen Posted Image ).

Since I remember you building some replacement .pak files in the past: with your experience in this, would it be possible to change the font? Or is this something so deeply ingrained in the MWO files that it might break other stuff?

I just did that to replace two caches with empty files (so that the cacheis rebuilt on the computer with only what's needed). Replacing other things is not allowed. But i don't understand why your font is unreadable.

Can you check r_Width and r_Height in the file attributes.xml in
C:\Users\[your windows account]\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles\[your MWO account]

Im running it in 5120x1440 and it looks fine, text is totally clear etc.

I do recall it looked blurry and horrible when i first changed the resolution. I changed it to full window from fullscreen and it fixed it, though it did still seem fine when i tested changing back. (i prefer full window anyway)

Changing FOV to (for now) 50 solved the text readability - never thought text and FOV were connected in any way
EDIT: It was the scaling setting in Windows that made the text unreadable! Changing that back to 100% solved that.

Had it at fullscreen instead of full window for years, so that wasn't it (I checked just to be sure, can't remember when I changed that value).

I'll test it a bit more, but it seems low FOV helps with ultrawide monitors.

In my opinion, the biggest issue is the bugged out load screens for ultrawide

Just installed 2 of these:
https://www.lg.com/c...ing/27gs60qc-b/

over 1 over these:
https://www.lg.com/c...ing/49gr85dc-b/

Plenty of Windows 11 issues, cured now.

MWO issues? Na-Da/Zilch/Zero ... DaBigGooseEgg

I suppose a fresh eye-exam and up-dated transition lenses would have been cheaper
... but also less .. um .. dramatic?, impactful?
certainly less impressive. lol

Upgrade to a card that will support 144Mhz

RTX4070 and above.

No need for an eye test.
