I was able to free myself simply because unlimited JJs and enough wobbling and twisting around eventually did... something.
While a number of maps have issues with terrain features being wonky in interactions with mechs (there are places in Mining and Solaris that will not tolerate collision with a mech well) it's interesting that the map from which FWC's features are drawn (Grim Plexus) doesn't seem to have as many issues with bismuth crystal formations trapping mechs. I can only speculate on why this is (the crystals in Grim are less likely to be bumped into by mechs, maybe?)
