I usually make up my own lore in my head from drop to drop.

Just to give myself a reason for actually being on that particular planet in that particular battle.

It helps keep the game fresh for me and allows me to roleplay what is obviously not your typical RPG environment.

I used to share that lore and roleplay with the battlegroups I dropped with just for fun.
Some appreciated it, some didn’t, so I stopped doing it.

But, yeah, is there any lore for these maps/battlefieds that is actually canon?

I'd venture an educated guess of.... Hell no.

The most "lore" you get in MWO is the occasional line of text such as "HPG", or "Free worlds" and such. Most other lore you can get a glimpse of is some players who also like lore, so they took lore-based names.

Back in the golden days, there was a bit more lore while taking planets in Faction Play meant fighting a battle between the great houses and the clans.. But that all ended with Tukayyid event in which the Clans won, counter to lore.. After that, most great lore-based units disbanded, as they ceased to matter, and many of those players left after that.

Now, the game is a glorified e-sport wannabe, a former shell of itself, where fun can only be had, for the most part, in quick play drops.

If you want lore - Play MW5.

No none.. its just random virtual maps.. They don't even follow real world logic most of the time..

There's literally like, 3 maps in the whole game that might be considered "I landed in an actual battle zone" maps.. Those are Alpine Peaks, River City, and Crimson straight, the rest are just "arenas" for fighting..

That's disappointing.

You would think the map developers had something, anything in mind when they were creating these maps.

It's just hard to believe that they didn't use any imagination or writing creativity while they were making them.

If I was a map maker for this game I would present it with some lore I made up while I was making it to give it some flavor.

I guess I can thank them for at least making the map while simultaneously believing they missed a fantastic opportunity to literally stamp it with their own creative signature.

Maybe PGI can have a creative writing contest that the community votes on to provide some lore for these maps?
