No offense but I've placed Top 5 in two different Assault bracket tournaments during my career, once in an Awesome when it was still considered a piece of junk and once in a Heavy Metal during a Hero tournament
I'm in the 97th Percentile on Jarls and thats only because I stopped playing for like 5 years and just started again a month ago. I know how to play an Assault Mech,
sometimes smaller mechs need to get out of the way. A good Medium knows when to not get in the way.
A good medium knows to move with the assaults and fight with them or beside them not in front of them.. Thats just dumb as to put your medium in between two on most cases way more powered mechs.. One you are blocking your main frontal attack group and two you just became a target of their main attack group..
I see this a lot i don't understand the thought process.. Is getting one kill worth losing 60% or more of your mech..
I think a lot forget or don't understand this is a team game.

I'd agree on the first part, but not on the last:
QP ain't a teamgame.
the moment you stop treating it like one and look at ~your~ performance instead of bringing in a "team" where there isn't one into your thinking, you start to improve a lot in this game.

it's better to go in assuming it will not be a team effort and be pleasantly surprised when enough other players are willing to coordinate under someone who has a not-terrible idea about what to do than work it from the opposite direction

i always found the team game argument to be weak. because except for solaris, thats been the game from the beginning. even mw4 and mwll baring ffa modes (mwll based on cryengine, has ffa. mwo based on crengine, cannot have ffa because cryengine, hmmm). it was the go to straw man for fp derpness, of course you see the results of not dealing with derpness if you ever try to drop there. teams are made out of players, and the game constantly puts them at cross purposes with eachother. the team game thing works up until players start throwing eachother under the bus and potentially throwing the game for personal glory. if it was really a pure team game, you would get rewarded on victory alone.

the bulk of the player base is going to fall into the lazy foo camp. thats not to say they are unwilling to coordinate, many are, but they really don't want to go through the time and effort of actively forming a group. the time especially eats into time you would be playing. gaming is entertainment for most players after all.
people playing it purely as an esport are kind of in the minority. you also have casual drops with friends, which is more of the same up until you have a high level player who is friends with other high level players. then bad players see any group (even a bunch of t5ers) as a sign that they were selected by the mm to lose and then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. but true esports groups are rare and team limits more or less keep that in check.
fp bet on trying to convert the lazy foo players into esports players and it just didnt work. i attribute that as a failure to understand the typical gamer. which represents the bulk of the player base and largest source of income (i wouldn't doubt that dedicated e-sports players spending more per person, but are far fewer in number).

You know what's actually strange? No one interferes with anyone else. But we are a team. We have a commander that no one cares about. But we are a team.
I wish it didn't happen.
When I find myself in the same situation, I give a warning shot. If they don't take it seriously, I continue firing.

I see where you are coming from, but i don't agree, when the team works well things go way more swimmingly than when everyone is like a herd of cats.. working together gets better results from my limited experience..
I never go in expecting a team experience but when it happens its refreshing.

But to the being blocked. If someone is a repeat offender, I'll tag them in the back.. AFTER I've made it clear they're messing with me. Usually my lowest damage weapon, or a shot into the ground if I don't have a lowest damage weapon. I'm not tagging you with my ac20. That's unkind.

I'd very much disagree with it not being a team game. It is, if you find randoms that can play as a team. But when you start playing where it's all about you, and screw your other 11 team members... That just seems like a sad way to play. I do sacrifice myself for team members at times. But I'm less concerned about my personal bragging rights.

there are ways to do this, and they are so old quake 3 arena had them. but it requires programmers (real ones, not the ones game companies use now), original source code (its likely a binary blob and asm coders are even more expensive assuming their license with crytech even allows that, i doubt it), time and money. they have exactly two of those things, and neither one could tell a nop from a jmp.
in lieu of an in game monitor that works, hud gauges are significantly easier to design than low level graphics code. copypasta the damage indicator code, turn it green and put a blip indicating what directions your team mates are in if they are not in the screen. it would have a range of about 50 meters and would brighten the closer the friendly is.
chances of either of those being developed are non existent. they have never made any changes to core game features in years. most has been xml, ui work, general modder tasks, and graphics. they have made zero ground on known bugs or implementing core features that have long since been axed.

yeah, it's nice in those once every x-months where this happens. thing is: you prepare for the "norm", and that is NOT what you're describing.
if you want to teamplay, you go to faction. I did and enjoyed it very much when it was alive and kickin'.
if you go QP, you don't expect teamplay, and you prepare and play accordingly.
expecting teamplay there is just setting you up to get reeeally grumpy.
but feel free to see things differently.

This. A lot.
You want to learn to abjectly hate the playerbase? Do this. Do you want to try to just make the best silk purse you can from the sow's ear and have some kind of decent time? Don't do this.
