I was in my Gauss Kit Fox with ECM and 3 tons of iron slugs, just finished tuning it, -40% cooldown, ~770 extra meters of range, and a lot more velocity. Unfortunately, with that much fire power, I had to shave a lot of armor. and I had no backup weapons. That's why I was hanging back from the main fight, acting as overwatch, nestled high on a hill.
<p>
It was a place near Alpine Peaks, but I could tell it was lower elevation because of the sparse trees. It was snowing a bit with wisps of occasional fog, really cold outside but my mech was warm and I felt good, maybe even fuzzy.
<p>
Suddenly, in the distance, my lance mates came into view, retreating down hill in close contact. We were outnumbered at least 2 to 1. I started sending Iron at a steady rate, rarely missing the Opposition Force. It was going to be a hard battle but I was optimistic. They didn't know where I was, and I was too far away for them to return fire even when they did eventually notice there was one more mech in the fight.
<p>
They would have to move while exposed down a long steep hill. They were slowed a little by the trees, and they would be completely exposed to my fire the whole time, yet unable to return fire.
<p>
That's when some aliens came up behind me and started talking to me, they were peaceful. They were kind of shaped like really big birds, small head and long neck tapering to a wide body, but stood more upright, they definitely were not birds, they didn't have wings, but arms instead.
<p>
Anyways, that's the first time I recall dreaming I was driving a mech. It wasn't like I was playing a game, it was like I was really there, piloting a mech. I didn't know it was a dream until I woke up, and then I got to thinking... it's too bad there aren't aliens in Battletech.

I have a couple times after long play sessions, but it was always with the UI and visual of the game, never a visceral dream about actually piloting a huge mech really, mostly games.

I used to dream about MW2 a lot, back 27 or 28 years ago. All very good dreams.
I don't have too many dreams about MWO. When I do, something always goes wrong. My UACs jam, I get striked, I can't move, some stupid thing like that.
If you want aliens in battletech, you might like earthsiege/mission force cyberstorm / starsiege.
or battlezone '98 / battlezone 2. Or Shattered Steel.

I have been dreaming alot about how to realize a mech technically. How and why they will compete in the modern warfare.
Eventual mech designs were never exactly like in Battletech, but always borrowed smth.
