Yup, that definitely looks familiar Posted Image
The only thing missing is some orc throwing a rock over and everybody scatters.

I feel that, though it does work both ways -- I've seen/been the lone lunatic with a close-range build and if you smash into the enemy sometimes they don't properly realize they outnumber you and you can break an entire firing position with a couple of SRM volleys :v

im quite fond of some of the things stupid aggression can do. the ones who say "let them come" are usually also the ones who load up their britches when one of them actually does. it doesn't always work but when it does, its worth it. better than a win by attrition.

We piss off a lot of teams by pushing as a 3-4 man; because we nearly always push in for good or ill. Sometimes we announce the intent, sometimes we don't, but I'd say 75% of the time we are the only ones making the push. In maybe 5% of matches the majority of the team pushes with us. The rest of the time its a crap shoot. In just about all cases however, (win or lose) someone will whine about it. Their tears bring us joy.

This is why I only play team independent mechs anymore. Quick play is simply too random to ever get a coordinated team unless you get lucky and a few gud premades are on your side. Woe to you if they are on the other though. Posted Image

I was on a Forest Colony Classic game last night where I was part of a tunnel push (which I felt weird about to begin with, but anyway). It actually went mostly well and would have gone slightly better if I had been more berserker-aggressive coming out of that tunnel, and I realized something about pushes - when you come into enemy sightlines you will definitely FEEL alone, and just like I balked and started to backpedal a bit when I came out and saw multiple heavies and a KDK-3, other members of a push are going to probably INSTINCTIVELY go "oh ****, change of plan" when they come around a corner/through a tunnel/etc. and see that, even before they see that half the people there are not aiming AT THEM.

I'd like to note that a couple of things happened with that tunnel push:

1. As I was backing up, I turned enough to see that yes, the Splatcat and a couple others were waiting behind me in the tunnel to emerge
2. Someone mentioned the KDK had an open ST.

From that I had a target to go after, and realized that once I jumped out after the KDK my teammates were probably going to pour out and start hammering on people, giving those clustered reds more problems than myself.

Hah! I am pretty sure I was in that match. I was driving a Splatcat (4SRM6A + SNPPC) on FC (Snow), Conquest mode, we did a tunnel push, I got hung up on the tunnel geo by the frigging roof -- tried to jump over a ledge and couldn't figure out WTF it didn't work at first --, I called out a Kodiak with a weak ST and then we pushed out into a massive CQC brawl in the bowl. Nabbed myself a Marauder II 4L back at their spawn, then tried to swing 'round into an engagement against IIRC a Gargoyle, Hellbringer, and Annihilator and got all my missiles blown off by the time it was done.

Fun match, fun push. Sorry I wasn't the first one out the tunnel there Posted Image

I know people are talking about the range meta, and I don't wanna beat a dead horse (too much), but really the lack of push (I feel) is because of this. Lots of people are either wanting to stand around and poke with blue lasers or are afraid they're gonna get torn up by said lasers walking there.

Yolo'd into a group once in a lurm Archer.
Cause that's what I do.
Surprising no one was even shooting at me.
Equally surprisingly I survived with 5 kills.

There are several behavior patterns during a day.

In the 2020, when the Nascar was popular, there were 2 main patterns Camping and Pushing.

European midday + NA mourning - midrange camping was meta. Usually if 3 peoples tried to push - others just kept starring on them and continued camping.

European evening - guys come home after hard physical work, they enter the game to fight. Usually if 3 people try to camp, they get abandoned and eaten by Nascar. NA evening extends this pattern.

In the first you better to have a midrange laser boat like STK-4N
In the second facecrushers like Cataphract, Marauder and other brawlers are rising.

Nowadays, when Nascar meta is almost solved and ERLL builds became more popular - there are much more behavior patterns :) Plus it differs by the tier level where you've been dropped.

I can distinct only the last most toxic one:
European late late night - ****** pattern. Some people pick fast mechs to never be abandoned again, some just grinding and playing normal but with tired eyes and brain, some want to kick last emotions before sleeping and fight super aggressive on various high DPS brawlers.
It is the most chaotic and toxic time period.

What I want to say is that certain build in the certain time, and don't expect pattern to change in next match.

I've been trying to drive a pure Splatcat A1(6*SRMS). It's so impossible, even on 300m where AC-20 and ML still work the SRMs are useless. And the giant ears are always being aimed. It's definitely the mech to use only in the prime time or premades.

Honestly, the A1's very fun too, but having the snub to turn off ECM is fantastic.

my recent lerm activities i often found i was the one closest mech to the enemy. people always whine about the ones in the rear but its the one up front you got to watch out for.
