So to make a long story short my GF convinced me to download and play mech warrior online and I was pretty nervous, game is showing its age and i assumed the people playing it would have been playing it for YEARS and would smoke me every game and talk a lotta trash. But to my surprise when playing some games on my own time (in my CDA-3M) I came across many people in VOIP and text chat that shared a lot of really useful tips for a newbie like me. I find myself much more confident now even tho im still very new.

So anyway id just like to thank this community for being so helpful and nice about helping out us new players. You guys rock, hope to see you out there commanders! o7

Welcome!

There are few bad apples, but overall the community is indeed very nice. And since it's a niche game not always easy to begin, we treasure rookies!
Don't be afraid to ask questions, on this forum, on the sub-reddits or on discord, there will be some good souls to help you.

Haha that comes back once you break tier 2 though. The higher the tier the higher the angst factor of the tryhards. There can be some ~salty~ voip and chat there when things don't go the tryhards way. Posted Image

But the tiering system is what makes new players able to compete anyways since those that inhabit the lowest tiers might as well be bots for all the coordination they show. But hey they enjoy themselves and the chat and voip at those levels tend to be positive and good natured. Everyone has a level they can enjoy here.

I'm taken back to 1997 when I was 13 and playing MPBT: Solaris. Ah... teenage angst trying to be honorable in House Kurita... The discipline it took to not disconnect the phone-line from the computer at the end of a match I'd lost.

Back in those days, it didn't count as an L if someone dropped connection. LOL

yea but its usually in good taste. usually. i like to think most of it is lively banter that just enhances the experience. but when the match maker derps and feeds a bunch of t4/5s to the wolves, then it might rub them the wrong way. especially considering the modern real life meta of playing the victim card. pls nerf.

Welcome! Having fun is a #1 priority. Ignore the bad apples and the tryhards, and you will have a blast of a time!!! Take time to learn things. Take it at your pace. Stay in a group when playing, until you know what you are doing. Cut people slack. Don't back-stab excessively. Stomp it loud! Posted Image

It's great to find such a helpful and welcoming community, not all online groups are so open and accepting to new members.
