As the title said.

The way things work now arms are free to move by default and by pressing and HOLDING Lshift (the default button) the arms are locked to the center reticle. Or by clicking a check box in the settings the arms can start locked and by pressing and HOLDING Lshit they are released to move freely.

The key issue is that regardless of setup you have to keep holding Lshift, sometimes for the entirety of a match.

By making it a toggle instead, you could easily switched between locked and free arms at a push of a button and wouldn't need holding a single button for long times. Nor would it be nessesary to fiddle with the setup depending on the model of mech you are playing.

Good news: there is already an arm-lock toggle.

what epikt said. The toggle armlock is unmapped by default, but you can assign any key to it via your settings menu.

Why is it unbound unlike the quite useless press and hold...
Never mind, please disregard the suggestion.

Because PGI and design. To make things more "engaging" you can't re-enter the Academy without rebinding the "bad" Arm Lock somewhere...
