Pretty sure I saw SOMEONE firing 4 gauss rifles at once

Not going to name any names, that wouldn't be COOL

PGI_FrostByte — Yesterday at 4:53 PM
Yes it was me.

I'm sorry about that. There was a dev side command I was trying to test for bugs, and I had to deploy it on a live server.

]NS[Gas Guzzler — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
Lol, bummer I thought it was a stealth change

PGI_FrostByte — Yesterday at 4:54 PM
Rather than give it to someone else and let haccusations and such fly, I just gave it to myself.

This isn't something players can do, but me trying to understand variables ingame.

Nice. It looked brutal

I was about to build a triple gauss vomit Dire Wolf.

It was too strong. I feel bad about what happened in that QP, tbh

So there needs to be some kind of regular place to test.. enlist victims or something. That's just stupid.

I assumed you'd left the server after calling everybody there a**holes for not agreeing with your assessment of the FNR hitbox (that you provided no reasoning or real argument for, and that they cannot change anyway.) But I see you stuck around to find something new to complain about on the forums.

How about we let Frost do the tests they need and not make a stink over something that doesn't matter.

I don't believe a live server is a good place to test broken builds, i agree with the op, that was silly.

I am not a forgiving person and I'm sure as hell not in a forgiving mood today, but even I think the amount of pissing and moaning about this is stupid.

Go get an engineering degree, then build yourself a bridge to get the **** over it. Things are getting tested, poked at, looked at, tweaked. It's SOMETHING.

Ok, accprding to you people are not entitled to voice their opinion (why have this board then?) but they should be interested if you are a forgiving person (or not) and how your mood is today. Sounds healthy!

Your bridge analogy is faulty btw. You would build a bridge and open it. When it crashes, the testing would have failed. That would be the kind of testing you speak of.

Meh, I don't see a major problem with occasional testing in QP.

I would think that testing in "real-world" situation would be more useful than in a separate server and honestly, how much of an impact overall would a small test here and there have on people's overall experience?

I wouldn't complain about getting killed by a tester once in a rare while if it was for the good of the game.

It's quickplay, not the championship finals....

They certainly are entitled to voice their opinions. And they should know the context, which is that the original poster is trying to stir up drama and discontent.

Sure its bad if devs run around nuking everyone a lot. But that isn't what's happening. We finally have a dev working on new stuff in this area, and its not good if someone stirs the pot over it when their actual complaint is something else.

You're never supposed to test in production, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I understand some things can't be tested in a testing environment because you have no population there or you're trying to confirm an issue in live. Quad gauss against a live opponent? Is that what happened?? Why not a private match if you really have to test that?

im glad they got people trying to untangle the spaghetti code they inherited from the previous coder who will not be named.

Can't imagine it would be all that hard to drum up enough cauldron-types to drop a private match to test stuff.

Really there's not much reason they couldn't have a pass coded private area of the game they use for such things. there's no need for a completely separate install.

I'd prefer having a choice in being a test rodent than just being slaughtered to some dev.. no wonder the population is low..

It was the maximum what a guy using "Yoda" in his handle could expect after committing a "non-sequitur" fallacy ...

... and for that "lol" in conjunction with doubling down with yet another "non-sequitur" fallacy where you reuse the fallacious conclusion of the prior "non-sequitur" just get's you this: ~yawn~

There's many reasons I listed some in the channel before I got my ban for saying I don't care if I get a temporary ban. lol Eventually I'll get kicked out of there, and that's ok as well!

You can believe whatever you want to be sure, but I offered up a different way up there to do live testing. As an event situation. Something that would let other players even participate willingly, and would likely gather more data, without affecting the balance of a live game, for people that waited forever for to drop at times. I play late in the US, and some drops can take a very long time to get. Still though twist, and redirect the post however you'd like! I'll be far more polite here... probably.

At least they could tell you that they are testing stuff during this match. As I said above: my light mech was insta gibbed I was wondering what happened. It would have been nice to know what was going on

It's outright ridiculous that allegedly there does not exist a private test branch to experiment with stuff like this. It's either a lie or a complete abdication of basic dev practice.
