Assault match, I was returning to C2 base, tried to hop an obstacle and instantly dies as Out of Bounds. Did n't there used to be a warning on that?

Yes, it's that red line encircling the map.

You can't see or hear the warning if "OVERRIDE" is engaged.
System OVERRIDE cancels you mech specific warnings like heat, ammo explosion and critical hit.
