For some reason MWO allows some mechs to boat a lot of machine guns. I can see how this would work as an "anti-infantry" refit of a mech, like a cheap anti-personnel vehicle with decent speed and armor, but MWO doesn't have infantry.
So instead MWO allows MG boats to deal 10-15 DPS without any heat generation and without any of these machineguns jamming. UBER LOGIC!!!
But the worst part is that when light mechs are boating machineguns, it is at least dealable with, you can shoot off light mg boat's leg (theoretically) and let your angry self tear it apart. But when 75 ton mech has 10-12 machineguns you can't just do anything. If you don't have constant escort of teammates who will instantly focus fire on this heavy MG boat, you'll die, he will just drill through any CT armor and kill you before you could even penetrate his armor. Doesn't sound too fair. Add no heat, no jam chance of machineguns, and finally add a group queuers who go 4x Craels for total of 40-60 DPS WITHOUT ANY HEAT OR JAMMING.
Just for comparison, 4x Craels can rip trhough Atlas CT armor AND structure in 4-5 seconds. And they have much more armor to spare than any opponent. And in QP there is rarely a team coordinated enough to focus-fire flanking lance of heavies. It has to be fixed, it breaks the balance.
Machineguns should recieve significant nerf to cure quickplay from these MG boating 75-tonners:
-Make MGs have jam chance, similarily to how RACs have jam chance;
-Make MGs produce heat, similarily to how Flamers produce heat;
(Maybe make that MGs have all these effects enabled ONLY if there is more than 4 of them, like a ghost heat. Would allow MGs to be freely used as a finishing tool, but not as a main weapon system)
Alternative solution would be making MGs NOT deal damage to armored components at all, or at least heavily nerfing their damage to armor (seriously, AC20 spends more time busting through armor than a machinegun array, its just unreasonably stupid and broken)
