At the moment rewards in faction play are either apealing to players who want to grind Mechbays and GXP by switching factions like underwear, or insulting to players who take the faction lore seriously (Gazelle Drop Ship, Cup of Pop, Lucky Cat, Hamster Huey... Posted Image ).

I suggest to add "Faction Mechs" as reward/unlocks to certain ranks, and removing non faction content like mech bays and GXP from the rewards (faction decals, banners, medalions, warhorns, colors & drop decks for faction play as rewards are fine).

Definition of "Faction Mechs"
Mech Variants that are by the Battletech Lore very common or unique to a certain faction.
For example the Banshee BNC-3S for House Steiner or the Grand Dragon for House Kurita.

Faction Mechs in MWO
  • Get the (F) suffix after Mech Name Short
  • Use the same geometrie as the other Mechs of that chassis.
  • Come with faction patter as default.
  • May be Variants of that Mech yet not in the Game, like the Banshee BNC-5S or Grand Dragon
  • May have unique quirks & loadouts (Grand Dragon: PPC &PPC Quirks, BNC-5S: Gauss Rifle & ER-PPC & ER-PPC HSL).
  • Dont give XP or C-Bill bonus, but a 10% Bonus on Faction Loyality, like the (P) Variants of the Phönix Mechpacks.
  • Faction Mechs can be buyed by every player for MCs (same MC Price as normal variant + 150 MCs fee for faction pattern, lower MC price than Champion or Hero).
  • Faction Mechs could be given out as high tier reward for high faction ranks, or as high tier reward for the winning side in Faction Play Events.

Example for the Grand Dragon:
Same geometrie as any other Dragon
Comes with Kurita Cameo
Name is DRG-GR(F)
Has PPC Quirks unlike other Dragons because carries PPC as standard loadout (PPC Velocity, PPC cooldown)
Gives 10% Loyality Bonus for Kurita
Costs around 2150 MC, same as the other Dragons + one shot kurita camo pattern, less than the Dragons Champion (2550) or Hero Variants (4500)

Has unique loadout
1 Energy Hardpoint in the right arm PPC
1 Energy Hardpoint left torso Medium Laser
2 Missle Hardpoints center torso LRM 10
1 Energy Hardpoint right torso Medium Laser
1 Energy Hardpoint in the left arm Medium Laser
max Engine Cap 360 (same as other Dragons)

Example for the Banshee BNC-5S:
Same geometrie as any other Banshee
Comes with Steiner Camo as default
Name is BNC-5S(F)
Comes with 380 XL Engine, Double Heat Sinks, 2 ER-PPCs and Gaus Rifle instead of PPCs & AC 10.
Has same Quirks as any other Banshee BNC-3S + ER-PPC HSL
Gives 10% Loyality Bonus for Steiner
Costs around 6000 MC, same as the other Mechs with 380Xl, more than the Champion (4420, Standard Engine) but less than the Hero Variants (7125)

Benefit for PGI:
Selling "new Mechs" for MCs with very little work
Disadvantage: may lose the MCs a faction player would otherwise may spend on a permanent faction camo... Posted Image (don't think many player do that...)

Benefit for non Faction Play players:
"New Mechs" for MCs with unique loadouts or quirks (Grand Dragon, Banshee BNC-5S).
Disadtvantage: may have to spend MCs for a new camo pattern.

Benefit for Faction Play players:
Getting a Mech with faction Camo and Loyality Bonus, either for MCs (usefull for new players) or as reward for playing.

That is such a good idea, i would really love to see it implemented. And it could even revive almost dead FP again, which would be an absolute miracle. This has to happen at some poin!
