im not even sure what good gamma settings are, ive tried every permutation of brightness and gamma on the testing grounds and the result is the same. sure i can find a setting where the mechs are slightly easier to see on that map, but load any other map and things are too bright. so i put brightness back in the middle at 0.5 and gamma around 0.67.

mechs stand out pretty redily against the sky, but if they are backed by the black terrain you can only just barely make out the silhouette, forget targeting specific components at that point. its easier if they are moving. either the map needs more ambient light or the textures need a bit of brightening.

What size monitor are you using? I ask this because on a very large monitor(58" in my case) the image is actually brighter than on my 24" display using the same settings and its much easier to pick up on movement and the faint outlines of dark mechs on the dark background. Upping gamma helped greatly on the large monitor but not so much on the small.

I just played in the pink lol its literally a cheat. I could see perfectly right across the map.

This is funny because it's kind of true, especially with new maps in the least year or two with lots of "atmosphere"...

I can see great! = Something is critically wrong!

I find it ultimately annoying I have to navigate my monitor settings just so I can play ONE map that isn't any good in the first place.

I have played on Scrapyard twice now. The first time everything was pink. Then I changed my settings to everything on medium except Environment which I changed to Low. The next time I played on the map, everything was as it should be: dark.

Yes, I am running an AMD card. A Radeon RX7900 XTX to be precise.

Try changing your settings if the pink bothers you.

**EDIT**
Played a couple of more matches on the map with one being pink and the other normal. So, my video changes did squat!
Disregard my advice!

IPS, TN, VA or Oled panel? My 58" is VA and the 24" IPS so that might be something as VA handles contrast and black levels much better than the others except Oled which is majik at all the relevant video accuracy metrics.

thats really not neccisary. running the 7900xt and i find that first run i get pink and subsequent runs it fixes itself. didnt have to change any settings in game or in the amd software. a workaround is to load the map on the testing grounds when you start the client, and if the map comes up it will be normal in a live game. also if you have time to exit the match and rejoin during the ready screen, you can also clear the pink. you have to do either one of those each time the client is run.

probibly an uninitialized variable in the shader code.

Just got done playing 2 more matches on Scrapyard. One was pink and the other normal. So, I guess my changing of video settings didnt help. Sorry for the bad advice!

its been my experience thus far. some other people on older cards reported it being more random, but the 7900 cards i figure would behave more or less the same.

Ah cool.

Yeah IPS while having closeish to Oled levels of color accuracy is fairly poor at contrast and blacks levels.

Since you have a high end gpu might I suggest this option? Not only a great tv that supports all the modern hdr standards but a superb gaming monitor with ultra low latency when gaming mode is used which is also hdr compliant.

https://www.walmart....8R6E3/587182688

Same tv I'm using and cheap as chips to boot since china heavily devalues its currency. They can sell stuff for a fraction of the price of a similar performing unit made outside china. Also Hisense is a quality brand unlike some of the other cheap crap shady chinese corps sell like the Onn brand.

They make a superb 120hz 4k hdr display which gets high marks from rtings.

edit: Shizz its only $650 at bestbuy atm.. I remember it being $999 when it first dropped. Might have to make a splurge purchase...

theres probibly a setting in the monitor osd that can help. theres an fps mode that looks like it just cranks up the brightness. game only gives you brightness and gamma, but contrast is whats needed.

think i spent $800 on my current monitor, bought it with one of the pandemic stimulus checks. its fairly new and i dont have the funds to upgrade at present.

anyway i found the contrast setting 4 levels deep in the osd. you have to create a profile or something before it will let you change the setting. will see if that works later today when i find some game time.

Tell us if it works since this seems to be an issue for many. Also your gpu control panel should have contrast controls built in.

As to funding Paypal will float you a loan with 6 months no interest on nothing but your word up to $800. Its one of the easiest credit lines to get and near every online vendor accepts it.
