Proposed Machine Gun Boycott

We continue to have to play with and against machine guns, a weapons system that was implemented terribly into the game. They have no downsides, no heat, shake, jams, etc... and they continue to shoot around oblique corners and chew thru untouched armor in addition to the built in crits, basically overperforming in every single respect except enjoyment. They add nothing good to the play experience, on teammates or adversaries, just a constant vomit of poorly designed mechanic, that takes one out of the game experience, looks terrible, sounds terrible and breeds terrible gameplay choices.
But all this has been posted about plenty of times ad nauseum, the point of this post is to suggest a boycott of MGs in game. The powers that be (thanks for so much fun, love the game) are fully aware of the shortcomings of MGs but have yet to do anything to bring them in line with the positive/negative gameplay philosophy of all the other weapons system. I'm suggesting a boycott of MGs until they do invest the time to implement a better, balanced, and gameplay enriching version of the weapon system.
What I'm suggesting is that when you run into machine guns in game refuse to engage or fight them, ignore them entirely, act as though they are not there and move on to targets without. Yes this means walking away from and quite likely being chewed apart by one of the ever-growing number mechs spamming MGs, it wont be easy, it wont be pleasant, but if it gets the attention and rework of PGI and the advisory board that seem hell bent on forcing more MG into the game it will be worth it for us all in the end when we can drop with and against a balanced and fun machine gun implementation in game.

I'd like to note that the piranha has horrible viewports and it's overall a weakly armored light. sure if you can get it in a good position you can wreck some people ,but if you run into a big group your dead no matter what...
I think your problem is a player problem especailly in lower tiers players do not work as a team.
In TT Machine guns were anti-infantry weapons only almost useless against mechs and probaly fairly effective vs vehicles, so it's nice to see PGI giving them a valid role.
Geeze what's wrong with me saying PGI did something right? , I must be going crazy. Well even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I love it when people complain and refuse to offer a solution, but in this case.... uhh yeah that went a total 360...
Okay you can stand in front of my pirahna 1 or my howl or my shard... see how well it goes when your teammates are screaming at you for freezing up like a person wetting their pants when an MG boat comes around... that'll do real good for your reputation, but okay i'll wish you luck in that endeavor..

But if you're piloting a bigger mech with tonnage to use, loading up MG's is a waste of hardpoints that can carry something heavier. And second only to the MG's crit chances, the LBX's have amazing crit chances and multipliers as well. An LBX2 does 2.78 dps to the MG's 1 against armor, and 3.614 dps to the MG's 1.9 against structure accounting for crit percentages. And it does it from across the map. It weighs a lot more, sure, but if you have the tonnage, use it. I have my Direwolf carrying 8x LBX2's and it pulls 22.2 dps against armor, and 28.86 dps against structure, and it does it at 900m and can still scratch the paint out to 1800m. I get 1000+ damage nearly every game, and I can almost always win a staring contest. I can't see doing that with MG's.

And ignoring that OP doesn't give any kind of suggestion HOW to fix the issue.

What PGI should do is give machine guns 50% less crit chance and DPS and 50% more armor to lights. But there is a great workaround for lights even in Assaults it is 2 Clan LBX20 and 4 Clan Heavy Medium Lasers LOL kills them every time even if there trying to face hug you.
The LBX are the key in any size as their spread damage is great and any combination of 4 lasers are the finishers to get the kill plus letting your teammates help as long as you hold the target with your R key and start yelling on coms.
