I'm sure they could make an MWO2, but MW5 may just be incompatible to convert into a multiplayer game since it was never going to be one.
If you have to add a basement to a house on a slab foundation, you're better off building a basement in a new location and a new house.
Either way, it would take them years to develop and the prospects for funding are just not great. I'm not sure they could make a MWO2, and provide live ops, and actually break even or turn a profit. I'm guessing the odds are not good.

Windows code-base is essentially the same since switched from 32 to 64 bit. Win7 were pre-alpha, Win10 were beta and it seems Win11 is still a technological-demo or a failure than a finsihed OS.
