That it's one of the few assaults that doesn't have any armor quirks?

AWS-8Q and AWS-8R come with Structure quirks.

AWS-8T, AWS-8V and "Pretty Baby" come with five Armor quirks and one Survival quirk.

AWS-9M has got both Armor and Structure quirks and one Survival quirk.

Well not the only one like that but I agree those structures should be changed to Armor.

Structure quirks are only meaningful if there is also a crit reduction quirk to supplement it.

No it's crap. Even the LPL HSL variant which allows 4 LXPL is still crap. The problem is the size of the 'Mech, and unless that's addressed, it will always suck.

Only snub variant is danger. Others use range and too bulky for it.

I'm pretty sure the Awesome has long been considered one of the worst assaults.

I don't hate it, but it definitely isn't the Awesome found in other Battletech/Mechwarrior incarnations to be sure.

I do not see "Pretty Baby" in the game too often.

I mean, it's always better than nothing and the one nice thing about structure quirks to torsos is they work being shot from the front or the back, but yeah, given all the ways to critseek out there and/or how fast people jump on someone with an opened component, I'd rather have the points -- or even somewhat less points -- in armour instead.

The Awesome doesn't strike me as a great machine to mount staring weapons on in the first place. You just get cored; the Awesome's size more or less requires twisting to stretch your survival time, IMO, or to simply not be shot in the first place.

So you're looking at weapons that in some way reduce the amount of effective return fire you take: (x)PPCs, LPLs, LRMs if LRMs were any good.

It's not called "awesome" because it sucks

The Awesome was one of the original TT and MWO beta mechs.

Its a classic from the old days and was made way back in 2665.

For its time, it was one of the few multirole assaults deploying 3 PPC's, eventually being one of the first big energy boats of its era.

As far as MWO goes, it never was very impressive and ended up mostly as a long range support and second line mech.

Why do you think its quirks are ramped up as much as they are?

Alot of players only used the 4x missile slot version, and it had a long run as a LRM boat in MWO or ERPPC sniper, so structure was more valuable than armor at those ranges.

It was never really used or useful as a brawler, or because "reasons".

AWESOME
AWS-8Q:

 • Added -40% Crit chance (receiving)
AWS-8R:

 • Added -40% Crit chance (receiving)
AWS-8T:

 • Increased Crit chance (receiving) to -40% (from -25%)
AWS-8V:
 • Removed -10% Cooldown
 • Removed 10% Energy range
 • Removed -20% Laser duration
 • Removed 20% PPC Family velocity
 • Removed -5% Missile cooldown
 • Removed 10% Missile velocity
 • Increased Crit chance (receiving) to -40% (from -25%)
 • Added 180% MRM velocity

I guess it's better than nothing. Thanks PGI!

8Q with 6SNPPC is so scary that it doesn't need armor quirks.

Awesome for 1 thing...range fighting, not very durable though...I dont think it has been in any version of MW I have ever played. I always thought you should have gotten more of a heat and range bonus on the beam and PPC variants to make up for the lack of durability. It's boxy profile makes it a big bullseye for sure.
