BattleTech / MechWarrior had to endure thirty years of legal problems caused by using elements of somebody else's IP.

What a stupid response, so famous people don't allow their voice to be used? OZZY was the voice of a tram in Wolverhampton UK for a time. You can buy his voice for your Tom Tom sat nav. So it's out of the question for a game? yeah OK mate, stroll on...

The idea was PGI licence the voices and you buy them..shouldn't have had to explain that bit..

It would be neat if they had an easy way in game to set up custom voice packs for the commanders. The default commander voices aren't great and I would suppose that at least a few MWO youtubers would record some lines. Heck, you could probably get actual voice actors to make a pack for you through a service like Cameo or Fiver.
