Greetings,

I'm here to complain about the bug where my mech starts constantly turning, and sometimes the throttle stays on some random percentrage. Three times i have played my spirit bear and three times my game was ruined by this bug. It happened on the longbow hero mech too. In fact it seems to happen on mechs with masc, and in such frequency that i am forced to complain here on the forums about it.

I read in some old posts that tapping a or d keys fixes it, but it doesn't.

I got a really good start to a match which got ruined by this bug so i'm really mad right now.

Kind regards
Totenxcx

Edit: No controllers were plugged in.

That sounds like a support ticket to me.

Anytime I've seen posts about this kind of behavior, it came down to some device plugged into their computer interfering with controls in some way. Have you checked your USB devices?

Yeah old known stuff... so old that I cannot remember the fix for sure anymore buuuuuut.
are you running game on full window?
If yes then it was probably this windows quick-swapping keyboard language to another.
Those would be my guesses.

An update:

Like Curccu suggested it happened because of keyboard layout swapping. It didn't matter wether the game was in full window or full screen though. When pressing alt(masc) + shift(arm unlock) + a or d, the bug would happen.

To fix this I disabled the shortcut for input language swapping.

In windows 11, at least, to do this you type "advanced keyboard settings" in the search bar. Open it and then click on input language hotkeys. In the advanced key settings tab click on "between input languages" and then on the change key sequence button. Here set switch input language to not assigned.

Bad wording from me but I meant if you are not running full windowed that might be the issue and if you are it is most likely this next.

But I'm glad you got your game working again, that kind of issues are super annoying.

sounds like you got an unwanted game controller on the system, unbind the default functions or remove it.

As OP said, a. they didn't have a controller and b. they found the solution, which, yes, is the language-input keybind conflict. I had the same issue once I started running MASC-capable 'mechs on the regular, hit up Google, and found the same solution -- it's been an issue for a long time.

yes but are you sure? i have a keyboard and a cad mouse that like to report as game controllers because they usually like to install a virtual driver along with them. in fact i have seven controllers on the system but only 3 are game controllers. one is a vjoy virtual driver and another i think is a virtual gamepad of unknown origin. if you do any kind of game streaming you usually also have controllers installed so that inputs can be transported to the host system. vr might also install such things.

best way to fix it is unbind or disable anything gamepad related in the control options.

i use my vjoy driver for my pedals and throttle, and i had to bind them manually in my actionmaps.xml. i presume you could do the reverse, scan the file and remove any tags associated with joysticks.

In this case of OP, my case, many of my friends case and foamyesques yes, we are sure.
Can game and other controllers make issues, maybe most likely even probably but that wasn't the case in these cases.

i was playing around with amd's streaming app and it installed a bunch of virtual controllers, i think nvidia has something similar, and of course my occulus quest also installed virtual controllers. the one that bugs the hell out of me is the one i cant identify. id probibly either need to hack the registry or reinstall windows to fix it. frankly i haven't had to reinstall windows since the winxp days, so windows is getting worse in this reguard.

my controls are bound to the vjoy and i started using joystick gremlin when my ch software stopped working. frankly its just as good and works with everything, i can upgrade all my adcs now.

the fun thing is there are at least 3 different apis all used concurrently because ms likes replacing good old standards with new bad standards, realizing its bad (because flight simulator) and creating a third hard-to-use standard (mw5's problem), and then supporting all three for reverse compatibility. and of course the usb stack has its own as well, and there are 3rd party apis (sdl for example, which i like to use in my coding project because it also works on linux and it makes my code more portable). thousands (if not millions) of bytes of code to move two bytes of adc data into your game.

It happens with me very rarely. In most cases it's about my keyboard or USB controller eating key release code. Pressing key again always helps. I had similar problem with my controller in Steam. Due to some reasons Steam was constantly switching between two different controller APIs. It was causing constant problems with some (not all) buttons. Like "select" button to open menu. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, that was forcing me to use keyboard to open menu. But then I fixed it somehow.
