You saw a post from them the last time a patch was about to be released, you'll see one from them the next time a patch is about to be released. So... before the 23rd of this month.

There is basically one active dev working exclusively on mwo along with the cauldron volunteers. If you want to interact with them then go to their discord as at least some of them regularly check it and reply to any reasonable questions or ideas.

There was the holidays. I expect some patch notes coming this saturday, along with a free mech event.

Probably working on new weapons that could be out in February.

Maybe also working on a new Legendary 'Mech.

Possibly assisting with the MechWarrior 5: Clans development.

as i understand it the cauldron are the devs now. any role pgi plays probibly doesn't go beyond rubber stamping their patches and perhaps some art assets.

clans team probibly works mostly in isolation barring any reused assets from mwo/5. they also would not have been disrupted by the holiday event schedule where as anyone on the mwo team was occupied with other tasks.

Tyios does the traditional dev work and has access to dev assets. Cauldron is balance only and input on legendary mechs and other features. Other than submitting their work they have no way to change the game on their own. A few are dabbling in some mesh work which is were the recent hitbox and geometry changes came from. There are still pgi devs who ~can~ work on the core code ~if~ its deemed a high enough priority but as your second statement says most of the old team are working on other projects and most of the new mechs are a byproduct of that past the legendary which can reuse the existing models with a bit of tweaking. Iirc most of the old mwo devs are still there too just not working in any capacity on this game anymore.

As Russ has said, MWO gets the resources allocated to it based on what it can support. So, a couple devs to keep the lights on and make some modest changes. Backup can be provided if something catastrophic happens (like item IDs being reworked so more items can be added in the future). Honestly, for a 10-year old, niche game, that's pretty good.

So now we know what the devs have been working on lately.

Check this post: Mechwarrior Online Legends 2024 Q1 Intel

New weapons.

New Legendary 'Mechs.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and MechWarrior 5: Clans development continues.

i usually play on vr and the set up time for that is usually significant enough to make me pull a lazy and play something else.

i got a steam deck for the holidays and playing on that would be pretty good but of course i bought it on egs.
