Keep wall cancer HPG for those that enjoy it. No reason we can't have both.

Please and thank you.

Old hpg would turn into jj sniper heaven like it was before and if your team had no jj mechs able to get up the wall you would get lots of stalemates. The entire reason for making the ramps was so that non jj mechs could get up top. However I wouldn't mind it back just for the variety. Maybe bring back old polar highlands since lrm are getting boofed.

I don't remember that being that bad, honestly I remember a lot of mechs wasting their time trying to play that game and largely being worthless. PPC Shadow Cats were probably the biggest threat and half the time they were more annoying than threat. Then again that was also before the Scaleshot was introduced.

PPC shadowcats and arctic cheetah and spiders galore from what I remember. It just needlessly dragged the games on as it was very difficult to counter them even if they were doing piddling damage. But now there are many many viable jj mechs so bringing it back wouldn't be any worse than what we have now. Maybe redo the current hpg and remove or lower some of the wall sniper cover and make it easier to get up top from the inside. As it stands there are only two narrow open ramps to get up the inside wall which discourages counter pushes to the top unless you take the loooong way around to a spawn area ramp.

Yeah, they weren't a threat, ERLL Cheetahs are a waste of a light and the Spiders wasting time on the wall were also generally a waste. As long as the game wasn't skirmish, you were good.

If you think nuHPG is wall cancer, old HPG will be far worse. JJs have been buffed since then. Heck, you did't even need JJs to get up on the walls of old HPG if you knew where the paths were.

I have never understood why they removed the original Polar Highlands map and the Terra Therma map with two levels. Or the second version of the Caustic Valley map. Or the original HPG Manifold.

I would say that it is better to have more maps to choose from.

Let the players decide what map they would like to play on. This is what the voting system is for.

Classic maps would be nice in EQ, but maybe not in QP. Old Mordor I feel nostalgic about but I do remember how much it sucked. Old HPG I have no opinion about, it was ring around the rosie or go in the middle and get shot from all sides. Polar I (fortunately) barely played because I had a long hiatus. Old Caustic was a nascar ring.

I dont find HPG hard to play against snipers. Theres plenty of cover everywhere. And I dont mean basement. Thats very often a losing strat. Often when I go wall I drop down because I'm not getting targets.

Old Mordor I definitely don't want back but that's about the only one. OG caustic and OG HPG were solid maps despite the way people played them.

I vastly prefer the old HPG, this new one almost always becomes a stomp on one side.

Personally, and this is just me, I'd like to see all the old maps retained when the updated versions are released. More maps is better maps, sez I, and maybe it would reduce the odds of playing on Frozen City fifteen times in a row.

Old HPG was actually worse for getting sniped, not better. Fewer snipers could get up on the walls but the ones that could were basically untouchable. Also the rest of the map was a yawn fest donut with a brainless center feature that encouraged people to just wheel around it like a giant toilet bowl.

Dont ask for old maps back because change rattles you, and if you're getting sniped, ask yourself why you drove your atlas into the middle of open territory with no support when you knew you could get shot from the walls.

Why not just offer both versions and let the players vote?

Yeah the moon map was awesome and there were lots of people calling for it to be made into a proper map. I think what they did was make ceres scrapyard instead as that is kinda the same thing. Rolling hills with almost no cover.

Old HPG was fine. You actually had central cover. All removed for the war on "nascar". In other words not giving snipers a clear line of fire for the entire map.

I mean I didn't personally have any overarching issues with the old map. Just that sometimes jj mechs would make the map incredibly annoying. The removal of the huge radar dish was fine but the replacement structure is a bit lacking. It needs to have some taller bits around blocking more wall angles.

Snipers on HPG were annoying but they were just that annoying. They weren't a real threat because you had a good idea where they were shooting from. You could also easily just move behind the central cover. It was a great brawling map and probably the best brawling map in the game. Now we have the wall sniper abomination map

(I'm a huge Tolkien fan and also play LotRO)
