First, check out the hitbox mapping, with Tamerlin's excellent Hitbox Localization thread. UrbanMechs' head hitboxes are quite tiny, but other 'mechs have heads as well...
Then, use weapons with a front-loaded pinpoint firing pattern: Gauss Rifles and PPCs are the best here; you ideally want to have a pinpoint alpha that can kill even a fully armored head, though many people shave head armor on mobile 'mechs. this sort of thing will also help with blasting the UrbanMech's arm and/or torso off, leaving them without that giant gun.
Next we have to talk about convergence. Your 'mech's weapons fire will converge on whatever your target reticle is pointing at. This is one of the things that makes killing Lights (particularly fast movers, but also pocket Mediums like the UrbanMech) difficult if you're shooting at them with a lot of guns, and why it's so much easier to kill them with lasers. If you are fighting a 'mech that's moving to the side relative to your point of view, you have to lead that target with ballistics or PPCs - which means that if you hit, your weapons will not all hit in the same spot. In the case of UrbanMech RAC builds, they're probably peeking to see if you're looking at them. If you are, they'll pop back into cover; if you're not, they'll just continue to pour fire until someone shoots at them.
This all leads to two conclusions: first, it's going to be legit hard to kill that UrbanMech with a headshot - it's a tiny target that's generally moving. It might be better just to hammer it down: from the front, an UrbanMech is going to have about 131 total durability in its CT, and 90 in its side torsos. This is huge for a 30-tonner, roughly equivalent to a typical 50-ton Battlemech. But it's not THAT much, and since the RAC/5 has to stare, you've got a good chance of hitting him in the same place while being able to simultaneously torso twist to spread his damage around more. A Heavy PPC Thunderbolt, for example, is not someone that UrbanMech wants paying attention to them.

you just need a 40-point alpha. ppfld strongly encouraged. then its just a matter of learning the hitboxes.

Keep aiming for the cockpit area since any misses will still mean you are hitting the CT. A majority of players tend to aim center mass, and if you check the Hitbox Localization, some of those CT hitboxes are thin. So I will blow off a ST. Check. Now incoming fire into the that destroyed ST and arm also means your incoming damage is reduced when transferred to the CT. Shooting destroyed locations absorbs 60% of the incoming damage.

Good luck head shotting lights.
Couple of weeks ago I got head shot in my Arctic Cheetah as I popped up over a hill. A couple of days ago I got head shot in a Locust as I peeked around a corner by a King Crab from over 800m away. It can happen. Each time I was sort of stunned by it too. Never peek the same spot if they know where you are!

Sure I have been headshotted in light mech few times since closed beta also but I mean literally few times.
Trying headshot light mechs on purpose is not something I would want to try.
