Nevermind. I'm sorry, everyone. I shouldn't be popping off when I don't know what I'm talking about.
I just got home and did the math, and it's fine I guess.

I mean, I don't know how much that shields gonna weigh.
So you're either gonna be stuck with a small xl engine and be slow and dumb..
Or your gonna be packing kinda light.
I'm thinking like 1 snub, 6er small, and some missiles. I don't know what size, I don't know how much that shield is gonna weigh. I don't know what the max engine size is. It's whatever. It's fine.

I figure that whatever it's got, its still probably not going to be as good as the 6SRM6a CPLT-A1 simply due to JJs.

Without the bolt on iron man mask it looks like a shield zaku.

They gave it SRMs so it can do an appropriately strong brawl build. If it only had 5E, they'd have needed to do it with 4 snubs, which would require HSL and probably be too much PPFLD. And there's already plenty of snub brawlers.

A lore accurate red reaper would suck, or need utterly ridiculous quirks that would probably also be immersion breaking.

I dont agree.

Srms are nothing like a sword for one. Dmg spread vs pinpoint is not the same

And this was a chance to add ppc capacitors. 5mxpl, and a hopc with a ppc capacitor is plenty of dmg. The bl6knt already has decent mxpl quirks

However, that aside this isnt even the red reaper. Its the red reaper 2. Imagine batman being released in a game, and it wasnt. It was something other than batman.

Disappointing as the reginald vanjaster storyline is one of the best things going for the jihad and late clan time periods

Yes, I did read this. It is idiotic to say that the hardpoints of the original wouldnt cut it.

I play with 5 mxp and 2 snubs. But I have also used a hppc and a light ppc with the mxp (no ppc capacitor available)
The loadout works fine. Hardpoints? When have hardpoints ever stopped the devs?

The hardpoints of the reaper are 5 energy right torso, 2 left torso.
NO missiles.

I am honestly baffled by the complete disregard for the game, for the lore, for the whole experience- and all the while they claim the reaper was all anyone could think about. As if it was something they really enjoyed putting together for the community.

This is crap.

And let me say again, look at the head of the mech. It does not even look like a black knight. Its total laziness, especially when viewed alongside literally any new mech weve gotten in the past 6 months, at least.

And Again. THERE IS NO II. NO red reaper II.
NOT a thing.

What an insult to everyone who loves the lore surrounding the black knight, especially Reginald Vanjaster.

Let me ask you, community? When we got the partisan, was it the partisan, or the partisan II?

Yea, i didnt think so

I think the mech looks cool as hell. I understand why there's no melee in the game but maaaaaaannn... wouldn't it be great for something like this?

Anyhoo, my man... MWO isn't and has never really been even close to lore accurate. It's a mech game that uses the Battletech universe for inspiration. Balance in a PVP game would never allow a purely lore accurate setting because clan mechs and tech are nutso.

Reaper looks really cool, kudos to the designer.

Compared to the polished and professional looking new warhawk, side by side the reaper looks like they put it together in the last day of the project.

The head is reminiscent of the drawing on sarna, however the rest of the body is stock astetics. It looks like a fricken pumpkin head abomination

Thats the problem with everything. Careless people make the decisions, and the rest of us see each and every franchise they once enjoyed castrated.

Im sure i will go away soon, as the game is in the verge of death and from the forum here, as far as i can tell ( not to mention gameplay) the community is evidently low iq.

My apologies if you dont like that, but honestly people like you should be the ones to go away.

I actually thought the whole thing looked pretty cool and both mechs have some really nice looking detailed paint jobs. Didn't they say this was inspired by someone on Deviantart? Maybe that design concept isn't that radical from the inspiration they used.

But I'm not a lore critic because I have no strong connection to any part of Battletech lore. The one thing I still don't get is why Centurions are really wide when all the other renderings I've ever seen were tall and skinny?

Lore-accurate BattleMechs are universally terrible in a real-time simulation games like MechWarrior.

Universally. Terrible.

The tabletop rules were not even remotely built with real-time 'Mech combat in mind, and they're also forty years old. Most of the 'mechs in the game were written when even the game designers had no idea how the game worked.

The more Piranha diverges from tabletop, takes TT as inspiration rather than ironclad rule, the better MWo is as a shooter. If you don't care for it, cool. Don't buy the 'Mech. Endlessly carping about Lore Inconsistencies in MWO is not a productive use of time, however.

Once again, i main a bl6r with 5 mxpl and 2snubs. It is 81 kph light engine, and often gets 700-900+ dmg/match.

That, against what you're saying, tells me (given that my build lacks a sword or shield or missiles) the lore accuracy youre criticizing is not so bad as you would make it out to be

And once again, the main issue is not the loadout or hardpoints. The main issue is the childishly stupid rendition of the red reaper theyve depicted with the overly large facemask/head, especially viewed along side the body of the mech not carrying any resemblance to the astetics they butchered on the head anyway.

And, again, there is no such thing as a red reaper 2. Why would they call it that, i have no idea because they didnt call the partisan thenpartisan 2

They should get the guy who designed the bl6r to redo the reaper. In my honest, if not passionate opinion, that is how a black knight should look, if not even better. It is one of the top most iconic mechs of battletech and theyve consistently ruined it since rescale, quirk removal.

I really was looking forward to this, and Im just blown away how the creators screw us all over again and again on every franchise ever. Im curious to know why the devs taste is so bad, and im very disappointed in the overall white knighting of the community rallying to support the people screwing us

No it wasn't. They aren't adding a new weapon just for one mech, and cap PPCs would cause huge problems if they did exist. Or be terrible and pointless, depending on the stats. There's already a lot of IS PPC type weapons.

1. Yes it was a chance to introduce an interesting weapon system

2. No, not only for one mech, obviously. OBVIOUSLY

3.I see no problems this could create weighed against the introduction of binaries and xpl, and not to mention shields.

4. Choice of loadout is also subjective, not stat dependent, unless weight is the stat. And there are ways around that to an extent.

5. I dont care if there are alot. Ppcs are redundant next to hppcs because heat and weight and slots, and light ppcs are easily destroyed and kind of lame on heavies in my opinion anyways. Snubs are in a decent place right now in my op

But, all the ppcs are the same point click weapons. Adding ppc capacitors would introduce a skilled based aiming mechanic similar to gauss, and that is interesting and fun-something the game needs.

I am not happy

We are finally getting the red reaper, and it is ugly. The new warhawk is the way i expect the developers to handle presentation, in contrast, the red reaper is awful. The paint job, the head, and especially the head, are awful

But the worst thing, is it is called the Red Reaper II

To my knowledge, there is no such thing.

Why are we getting a red reaper knock off, called the 2?

I am not happy about this.

Ok, i feel stupid. I made a mistake. I admit it. Im still not pleased with the 2, but i just learned that the facemask is a bolton-according to nogutsnogalaxy

Now give us ppc caps and everything will be amazing.

The helmet with glowing eyes is a bolton which alludes to the original book art where it has a knights helmet. This is what the mech looks like without any boltons(someone asked me to show it on discord)

A big consideration we had when making the mech is that the stock loadout is kind of anemic for a 3070 75 tonner without the sword. Which is why we gave it the 4 missile. But the Red Reaper is just too iconic to remake like that so we went with Red Reaper II. Didn't want to disrespect the original mech like that.

As for concerns of strength, hardpoints aren't all. The Red Reaper has no offensive quirks, just defensive quirks worthy of a shield mech. It will be an absolute beast in tanking, but with the weight of the shield you may be hard pressed to fill out the hardpoints. That stock build is XL300, 2 snubs, 5 smalls, 4 SRM6, and a total of 14 DHS. It's gonna be hot.

It'll be a super tanky mech, but I would say the firepower will be similar to that of an Orion.

As for PPC capacitors, I thought about it for a bit before even considering the Red Reaper II. Decided the game doesn't need more PPLFD weapons.

I am very relieved that the bolt on mask is not the actual face of the mech; my opinion, it is too wide compared with the stock body.

As for ppc capacitors, I really hope they are added at some point. It is going to add alot of fun to the gameplay- like the heat canon from another mech game that is no longer with us.

Wow. I am very happy the mask is a bolt-on

I've always been an aesthetics first, everything else second participant of this game. Hell, I've bought multiple mechs of the same variant just because they look especially good with multiple camo patterns. Same thing on the opposite side of the spectrum in that I find some mechs so ugly or stupid in look or concept that I will simply not purchase them regardless of currency/availability (waves at Desparada) regardless of their potential PTW or OP potential (gazes across the line of most of the Legendary mechs that have been released, plus the Stone Rhino and this years batch of Loyalty mechs...though that Adder looks like a blast).

Any way, I cannot fathom someone looking at the Red Reaper II as shown and thinking "pumpkin head abomination" or "thrown together at the last minute". To me, it looks amazing; everything I want to see in a BK, so cool looking that if they kept the SRMs off it would still be the first Legendary I am willing to purchase with real money (something I haven't done in several years). Kuddos to the designers (though I do wish the shield was on the other side. Meh, can't have everything).

Im glad you like it.

I thought the bolt on facemask was the actuall face. Simetimes im hyper critical.

Since finding out i was misinformed, its growing in me
