I was right! Solaris games are not simple, but also with a story campaign and once again the voice of the announcer of the Solaris MW4: Mersanaries arenas will sound with us. PGI is the best, you know how to surprise. Thank you! This is the best completion of the Mercenaries. The Clans stay for the most delicious, now we are waiting for news on them Posted Image

Loader King? Wait - we have Roughneck (a proper militarized Loader King) already! Posted Image

Maybe this is the story where the Loader King gets its development into the Roughneck?

Speaking of that. I was searching for the lore that was dropped here so long ago. Anyone got a link to it?

Something I noticed in the trailer. The Solaris Arenas are from MWO but there is one that I think I remeber that was never finished for MWO. The one with the big upper ring you can walk around the arena. Interesting to see this for MW5.

Will this and maybe other maps be brought back into MWO? That would actualy be cool if you could use the random output from MW5 to create some maps for MWO.

Hell it would be awesome to have the "random map tech" in MWO. Imagne if every battle would be rather unique. Sure you know at some point the different pieces but with them altered in position each battle could be fresh.

I'm glad we are getting a Solaris DLC with Duncan Fisher. Though I wish we could have gotten a prelude to the Clan Invasion, it's nice to always hear the voice of George Ledoux. Also, I'm glad that PGI is finally using the Roughneck they had in their files for so long.

I would remain excited for MW5:Mercs. Not everyone does this, but I dove into the EG7 2023 Q4 and year-end report (link below). If you look at page 12 and the 2nd and 3rd bullet points, they explicitly mention 2 more DLCs before MW5 Clans. The report was published Feb 13 which means Solaris is one of the DLCs and we have one more before the standalone Clans title.

Maybe to get us hyped for this Solaris, we can get a Solaris Event Queue? *hint, hint* ;)

No, the addition from Solaris is the latest to the Mercenaries. According to the roadmap plans, there were 2 DLCs, 1 for the 4rd quarter of 2023 and 2 for the 1st quarter of 2024.

I'm aware Solaris is the latest. I'm just saying according the the Q4/year end report from 10 days ago there is one more DLC after it.

Hey, if there is a new MW after MW5:Clans, can we fairly assume it will be based on MW4? (Fed-Con Civil War).
PGI even has already most of the mech models.

This is unknown. It is known for sure that the license has already been extended since discussions are underway at an early stage of planning for a new PVP MechWarrior game. I dare say that PGI does not repeat itself with other Mechwarrior series and creates their own companies, plots. So I understand the DLC for the Clans has already been planned.

I pointed this out in the wishlist thread, as well. You've got a typo/issue on the DLC page. You say there are 5 new ranged weapons, but list only four. Those being the BF Rifles, RF ACs, Blazer, and something called a PPC-X (one can only hope an apocryphal prototype LPPC for a 3-ton energy slot in timeline for medium hardpoints). Either it should only say 4 ranged weapons, or you missed one for the list.

Regardless, curious to see more detailed patch notes, weapon/equipment information, and variant info.

We are definitely getting another DLC after this! According the most recent EG7 quarterly report, Feb 13th (post-Dragon’s Gambit), there are 2 DLC’s planned for release before Clans, and Solaris was one of them.

I think there is a mistake in this report. It contains data for October - December, but most likely it is about the last two DLCs, including the Dragon Gambit. After all, Russ Bulak himself and according to the earlier roadmap from EG7 it was said that there would be two more DLCs before the Clans and the EG7 roadmap was published before the release of the Dragon Gambit and there were exact release dates. So, I wouldn't hope for another addition besides Solaris. Priority over Clans now.

I disagree, here's why -
  • The quarterly/monthly boundaries are for financials, and they specifically mention the impact of the 5th DLC (Dragon's Gambit) on page 7
  • The bullets I pointed out around 2 more DLCs are typically read as "forward looking statements" and indicate work beyond the 5th DLC. Those types of statements are not bound by the quarter/months of the financials.

Yes, you're right. I read the report again and the information about the Dragon Gambit is already out and financially it is an excellent addition from PGI. In general, last year was good for PGI and higher than expected in terms of profit. We can only be glad that the team is doing well and there is progress in everything. And I am glad that we have chosen the right path to implement linear campaigns with plots, as it was before in games. It's much better than just a sandbox, imho. I'm really looking forward to the Clans and if they are cooler than MW2, then it will be space! And of course we are waiting for another addition besides Solaris.
